Game Doesn't Start
Let me start off by saying that I'm using a Mac here. I don't play games all that often but when Steam launched for Mac I downloaded it day one and got the first Portal. Worked flawlesly and I was in love with Steam right away. When Portal 2 came out I also got that through Steam and enjoyed it thouroughly.

I haven't touched Steam in awhile but today I bought Dear Ester. I wanted to give it a try even though it's not exacly a "game" I wanted to see what it was all about. When I launched Steam there were all the usual updates as I haven't used it in a while. After purchasing and downloading the game however, I try to launch it and nothing happens. The logo pops up on my dock but after a few minutes of nothing I right click on it and it says "Application Not Responding" so I usually have to resort to force quite. Not only that but everytime this has happened Steam stops responding. I forced quite Steam, but I now know that's a mistake because apparently force quitting Steam causes it to corrupt local files or something and it refuses to connect to the Steam network afterwards.

Took me a little while but after uninstalling and reinstalling Steam and deleting some local files I could finally connect to the Steam network again. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Dear Esther. But when I click play the same thing happens. The logo appears on my dock but when I right click on it it says "Application Not Responding". I now leave it and Steam alone and after about 5-10 minutes they shut down by themselves. I don't have an issue of accessing Steam now though because I learned I just can't force quite Steam itself (or else I'd have the same issue I did earlier, not getting it to connect to the network). The game however still will not start.

I'm at a loss here. I've always had a good experience with Steam in the past but this is just frustraiting and in all honesty I'm getting more irritated. I bought this game, my computer is more than capible of running it, so I should be able to play it. What gives?

Here's my system specs if this seems to help:
Processor - 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory - 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics - AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB
Software - OS X 10.8.2
