How to invade a country (Pope does not let me) in vanilla

I tried several things, except bribing, because he asks way to much. My claims are not working anymore (tried fabricating things, but it hardly works anymore), and the king of England and the Pope both died and still no luck. I only had a yes one time in Scotland, clicked on it, and after the decision he just say's no.

So what do I do, it is getting really annoying, that I can't do a damm thing. Other countries are just to large for me to handle (I control Wales and Ireland and some other counties in Scotland and Wales)

Side-note: yes England still has more countries than me, only the opinion page is in negative.

Is the target King excommunicated? or Does he have bad traits like Wroth, lustful etc?
What start date are you? and what is the moral authority of the catholic church?
I have never seen a pre-1066 invasion of a Catholic ruler by another.

No the King is not excommunicated, if I want to do that, I would even need more opionion. And my start date was 1066 and I am now at 1170 or something like that. My only problem is that it I got 3 opionion and he got 1 but also got the base relactunt of 2. So it is even.

So how do I fix that? (without waiting for money, I am getting 13gp per month)

Forgot about that, so just did that, in less than a min I already increased my relationship. And so I could click yes on invasion. And then same thing happend with Scotland, he just said no again after a brief wait.

As a guy who uses the Invasion CB granted by the pope all the time I can say the pope almost NEVER grants an invasion against someone he likes. His opinion of you has to be high and his opinion of the other person has to be low or neutral. If he likes the guy you need to invade i would reccomend assassinations until you find someone he doesnt like enough to spare them from your armies

Well need a higher Spymaster then, most times it cost me a fortune and only a low chance of succes (with a high discovery).

Click the "find characters" button and sort by intrigue skill. Once you have found a skilled person who will join your court (Generally they will only join if they have a claim on something) invite them and get a better spymaster like that
