Most interesting start
So, what do you think is the most awesome place / or ruler to start out?

I have no clue, since I am now playing my first game and I started in Munster, Ireland (because everyone says so).

Is it challenging to start as someones vassal? Can you even start as a baron?

No starting as someones vasssal is quite fun, personally i like starting as byzantines and beating back turks (i dont assasinate those seljuks)and then rebuilding rome for this the best start is probably the complete start

I've started as Flanders more than anything because there are a lot of different ways you can take it and it doesn't have the easiest start.

It's a vassal of France, it's wedged between strong neighbors, it's culturally split, Dutch retinues are bad, and it's constantly being raided by vikings if you have Old Gods.

What it has going for it is money. Brugge, like Venice, can hold 5 cities but you have to build it up.

Another one I like is starting as the count of Najera. Going from the only count of the smallest Iberian kingdom to emperor of Hispania and turning everyone Basque is pretty fun.

I would play in the HRE as a Duke or the Duke of Barcelona.
I wouldn't play in Ireland it is dull and actually doesn't teach you all the game. Spain is far more interesting due to the Holy wars although I wouldn't recommend an Old Gods start.

Thanks for the ideas so far! If someone has other ideas I would really like to hear them.
