Crusader Kings vs Europa Universalis 4
Do you guys think it's worth getting CK2 Collection and The Old Gods? I loved the demo and I plan to get the Game of Thrones mod but I haven't heard of EU4 or the EU series in general and it looks enticing as well. I don't want to throw all this money at CK to have a potentially superior game come out later this year.

i have ck2 but not eu4 but from the looks of eu4 u dont get to play as long. with the old gold u get almost 600 years of play eu4 i think maybe 200 years of play. so if u looking for a long game ck2 shorter game eu4. clearly i pick ck2 over eu4 anyday. i dont think id but eu4 even if it was only 5$.

EUIV will be arguably better than CK2, yes. This doesn't mean CK2 isn't worth buying, even if EUIV were to be released tomorrow. I think the complete CK collection is sold on Amazon for 10€. It is a sin not to buy it. You'll have hundreds of hours of fun between now and EUIV's release. If you plan getting it on day one, that is. And of course they are set in different historical periods. You could get CK2 today and buy EUIV during its first sale.

Eu4 will cover about 400+ years, but unlike CKII, EU4 is focused on the kingdom and expasion rather than indviduals and dynasties.

Yes but the turns seem WAY slower I guess with the constant pausing to babysit the slider.
The sliders will be gone in the next game however and it will probably be worth buying.

Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV have enough significant differences that I think they can peacefully coexist.

Exactly. The games are quite a bit different. I doubt I'll stop playing CK2 just beacuse EUIV was released. Personlly, EU3 is what started me into Grand Strategy (and Paradox) games, so I would get EUIV and wait till CK2 goes on sale to get it and all the DLC for cheap. Or if you can afford it, buy both, I doubt you'll regret it.

Theres rumour of a demo for EUIV coming out later this week, so wait a bit and if it materializes then you can try both (CK2 also has a demo) and see which you like more.
