Disappearing retinue glitch

Well, I had about 10,000 troops on their way to fight a war in the Byzantine Empire, 6000 of which were part of a retinue. My king dies, my son takes over, and I figure I'll just call a white peace, since I don't feel like fighting the war. But, my retinue has vanished. Not only that, but the game tells me I still have them, and there's a patch of area near the Byzantine Empire that isn't covered by the fog of war, leading me to believe the game thinks they are there. I sent a fleet of ships to check it out, and they aren't there. Advice?

First I'd like to commend you on your great username, second I have the exact same problem! I noticed this was posted over a month ago, but if you found a fix that would be amazing. It's weird because it was the exact same situation for me too. I had just went to war with Gotland when I died and my son took over. This happened while my retinues were embarked on ships and when they came back I noticed they weren't on the ships or anywhere else in the world (trust me I checked).

Found out others were having the same problem. Their solution: Don't put retinues on boats during wartime with either an old/soldier leader.

Well I've been playing for an entire ruler now so is there any way to get them back other than re-loading the save?

I never found a way. So it seems reloading the save is your best option, Your Grace.

Late answer but hopefully this helps. I had this same problem, with my retinue disappearing, but later I was able to move them again. I just located where they were and selected them by boxing the area over and over again. I got them selected and moved them on the land, and they have acted normaly and haven't disapeared again after that.

its also nice they place them into the game for your enemies to use but you need to buy dlc to use them. garbage
