Dragon Age Mod
Why doesn't this exist yet? Just imagine ruling over an area, having to negotiate with grey wardens, defend from blights (which could be like "Winter is Coming" in the GoT mod) and tons of other awesome stuff.

An Elder Scrolls mod is in the works, if you're into that kind of thing, LIKE EVERYONE SANE.

I was just thinking this myself....it would be awesome, especially in Ferelden where politics are complicated to say the least. Would be good to be able to play as a Bann, an Arl, Teryn or even the King/Queen. Personally I'd love to play as Bann Teagan Guerrin because his would be the most interesting, particularly around the time of the Blight. There he is ruling the bannorn of Rainesfere, but then his brother (Arl Eamon of Redcliffe) is suddenly taken ill (this would be an event) and Teagan is placed in temporary charge of Redcliffe (an arling, same as a duchy). Eamon might survive, but if he dies then it is a stepping stone for Teagan as Connor is a mage and can't take a title, so Teagan becomes (hopefully) the next Arl. If you wanted to play a particularly nasty Teagan (even though he comes across as quite nice) you could have Eamon finished off for good just in case. Then, as you say, there is the Blight to contend with as Redcliffe has to send troops to defend Denerim. Teagan then has to worry about getting married, making sure he chooses the right wife (as there could be a trait where they have magic in their lineage and could potentially give birth to mage children, unable to inherit.) There are so many possibilities with the Dragon Age universe that I think it will be an excellent, if a little complicated, mod to make. I'm surprised as well that no one has taken up the idea and tried to make it, but then again not many mods actually make it to release anyway....

If I could code and do everything else myself then I would.

A Dragon Age mod would be awesome.

I think the hardest part would be the delish clans but also very fun they could have a event for the keeper to lanch a campagin to take back the dales or to build a new kingdom for the elves

I agree, DO WANT! I'd say the pagan mechanics fit the Dalish pretty well, from what I've read of them.
If you coded this, would you make the Qunari playable from the start, or have them arrive as invaders like the Aztecs in Sunset Invasion?
tajmajaj 2013 年 06 月 2 日 @ 上午 1 時 14 分
The Qunari could be made playable, sort of like the pagans in the Old Gods expansion, but if you choose not to they would arrive as invaders that attack Rivain and the Tevinter Imperium. I'm just thinking that it might be a bit complex though as they don't have 'dynasties' as such. Each Qunari is born to fill a particular role so there's no guarentee that the son of an Arishok would become the next Arishok, so to speak.

The Elder Kinds crew might able to make a dragon age mod that would live up to our expections but I think the blights and gray wardens would be very hard to do correctly

Couldn't Grey Wardens just be mercenaries/crusader types for hire? Blights would probably be difficult, unless the Darkspawn sort of showed up every now and then like the Aztecs, or the badasses in the Middle East that are impossible to defeat.

They would be more like a holy order fighting only darkspawn.

Well they could work like a merc army but only hireble darkspawn are found in your lands
tajmajaj 2013 年 06 月 3 日 @ 上午 3 時 10 分
Blights could be handled similarly to the Crusade mechanics, and Grey Wardens would be the 'holy order' as such that would instigate the need to fight the Blight like the Pope calls for Crusades. Therefore they would not be playable - an interesting event that could happen though is the Rite of Conscription, where Grey Wardens arrive in your lands looking for recruits and could possibly recruit one of your dynasty members. This then leads on to them either surviving the Joining and becoming a Grey Warden (with all its pros, cons and responsibilities) or dying. I think it would work with some tweaking here and there.

One thing I will say though is that this doesn't make them the religious figure head of the game, as that of course would be held by the White Divine in Val Royeaux (for the Andrastian Chantry) and the Black Divine in Minrathous (for the Imperial Chantry).

Well, assuming enough potential players own The Republic DLC, the Arishok title can use the "Respect" mechanic of Patrician dynasties to determine succession. Or, if the coders wanted to go out of their way, create a new succession mechanic banking solely on prestige/"honor"/whathaveyou.

What about if the rite of conscription was enacted on you or your hair would you have to rule when your father/mother died and the throne became yours or would it be past on to the next in line
tajmajaj 2013 年 06 月 4 日 @ 上午 1 時 54 分
Grey Wardens can inherit, proven with Alistair, although they would take a massive fertility penalty with the Grey Warden trait, meaning that it would be difficult to have heirs. Because of this, if there is a next in line, it might end up with them taking the Bannorn/Arling/Throne or whatever instead.

this thread is making me want a mod that'll probably never happen
