Why the f*** did they have to ruin the Republic DLC
So I go to play today and my impressive 298 trade post empire can't expand anymore because the new limits on how many trade posts a family can have.(my new limit is 15...) Anyone else want to get rid of that next update?

Republics were hilariously broken OP with a silly rat race beginning where all you do is throw trade posts everywhere to stifle the growth of rival republics. The last two patches have been good in toning them down. I can actually feel challenged when playing as a republic.

Plus, the reduction in embargo's willingness of AI part is really welcome. No matter how long you aimed to maintain your posts in the Byzantine or Holy Roman Empire, they would always embargo.

Not like it mattered if you covered the map in trade posts because you would have enough income and spare cash to buy every mercenary band in the game, allowing you to beat HRE and Byzantines.

If anything, this patch makes me want to play Muslims without fear of HRE coming to enforce it's Holy Roman♥♥♥♥♥♥ It goes both ways though. Now, I shouldn't see the Fatimids in Switzerland.

Isn't the point to build a massive trade republic? 15 is like the coast around your capital and 1 or 2 others and I worked very hard in my rat race to exterminate Venice and Pisa, and now I make more money than I can spend but that's ok because it will all be spent on the sunset invasion. I could've understood a cap but 10-20 as chuck says that's turrrible

The limit is per family, so for your republic you'd be looking at a ~75 trade post limit, and it's increased by your palace upgrades and the amount of adult males in your court.

That's what you get for being a filthy republic!

I think they need to up the cap a little to maybe 25? That seems like a reasonable number. I agree with Doctasm old republics were broken. If you want alot Mercs you can cheat!

The power of a republic should be based on the strength of all of its' families, not just yours. Once I become Doge, it shouldn't be guaranteed to stay in my family like a Kingdom. The ridiculous amounts of money you made with TP spam would allow you to assassinate threats and buy every election until the second coming.

Ha! garauntee'd my first few rulers were quite a bit of work, and now the proliteriats come to take my land! Preposterous, and yes you can buy a lot of mercs, but owning anything other than a grand city is a hassle, can't a brother just monopolize?
