How To Prevent Successon Wars
Today i played as the Kingdom of Ireland. After i united it I always had my brothers declare war on me for the throne. I found a solution. if you get hars taxation on all your vassels. You also need to make and Anti-Pope to get bishops money. Then build or give your male family members cities. You can marry them to courtiers, and they will never have enough power to dispuute your right to rule. Thus elimanting Succession Wars. Your Welcome

Reforming the Roman empire gets your vassels to like you more too. Having kids born in the purple makes your siblings unable to inhert the throne without killing your kids. Teaching your kids with the right traits will also get your vassels to like your heir more.
And with an antipope moral authority degrades, lading to heresies everywhere

you're welcome
as muslim i always try to lock them up after the death of the former ruler. if i get them i can kill them and if i fail, they revolt - ALONE. seems a bit broken for me, never had painful succession wars after i figured this strategy out.

any other religion. one county per vassal, save some money for emergency mercenaries and form alliances with strong neighbours (even if it's seljuk. permanent cancellor in their capital and they're a really powerful and reliable alliance). i almost never fear succession/civil wars only in the beginning they're annoying if there are strong duchies / family clans. save money, form alliances, let them revolt, win and disempower everyone (or at least let them pay for freedom - quite a bunch of money).

if you've different cultures/religions in your kingdom/whatever and you can't claim their titles.. give their kids teacher from your own culture/religion and they'll will convert most of the time. takes some time, but your next ruler will thank you.
