First off, go to paradox interactive forums, create an account and then activate your cd key on the forum, so you have access to the metaserver. Then use the meta server, make sure your ports are open/make sure you click host(something i forgot to click) before telling people to join the game. if your having trouble with how to meet other people to play. I suggest going to the crusader kings 2 forum on pdox forum, and going to the multiplayer subsection for ongoing mp games.

There are 3 ways to set up a multiplayer game

For Linux there is currently a bug.

i tried making an account on the paradox forums, but every email i inputed said it was currently being used....this is my first time using paradox on any game, so i dont know how that would be true. is there any other way?

just make a new email i suppose. Are you sure you havnt already registered your game. Try clicking the forgot password thing, so it sends you a email for changing the password incase you already have it registered.

The question remains: how does one open their ports?

To open your ports you need to configure your router.

A way to bypass that (=an alternative to router-configuration) is a program like Hamachi.
Such programs go into your local network and establish a tunnelled connection. The one you are playing with and the company have then access to your local network.
