Dear Steam, You sold me a game that has a bug in it in the first 2 minutes of play in the tutorial!!! Lift your game slackers.

Tutorial sucks anyway. you'll learn more reading guides and watching walkthroughs.

you rather have a bug in the main game then, i suppose?

Tutorial is broken.
There are more bugs…

Apart from that - my most played game currently xD

btw. You only write in a community forum where are other players like you read. – If you intended to address Steam – use the support. Or write to Paradox.

To be honest, CK2 is probably one of the most bug-free games I've ever played, on the whole.

Well the tutorial is broken… and it is probably the first appearance one can get. Next to it I can not play multiplayer!! (Linux bug, known but not fixed yet)

The rest seems good, really!

An excuse for the Linux bug is that Paradox is new with Linux games… ok.
But still… I can not play! xD

You're angry at Steam for a bug in a game they didn't write?

You're mad at Valve for a game they didn't create why? They didn't throw bugs in just to screw with you.

Same problem. I bought the game 2 months ago and played it only for 5 hours. Contacted Paradox support, but they often don't even answer mails and told me nothing definite about the date when the patch fixing the problems would be released.
I'm going to return my money.

The developers have a Facebook page. I complained to the developers directly:

January 22, 2013

"What kind of programmer puts out a game, a "grand strategy" game, no less, with a broken tutorial and no Steam manual to read? I have watched hours of Youtube videos and I'm just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off at this point:"

The reply was pathetic, so I won't waste the bandwidth posting that.

As for replies to the original poster, I think it's f* pathetic that gamers these days, excuse such sloppy coding. Yeah... why play a tutorial for a game that you payed for, when you can watch hours of esoteric, time-consuming Youtube videos, further wasting your time... right... like that makes sense.

I have been gaming for 3 decades and PC gaming has become a sad thing to witness.

hmmm... to be honest… the tutorial is more an overview over the most basic stuff… – One does not lose a lot if it's not there! – As it is broken it just gives a wrong and very bad first impression of the game!!

I think it was meant this basic way… You can not learn all of the game before you play it – you have to learn it while playing. I think that one still can learn and discover things after 100 or 200 hours of gameplay…!! – Some think this is fun actually! ;D (including me!)

This is underlined by the way how the game actually works…
You do not "win" the game normally. You set your own goals – and develop them during the play! This game is not a "I want to conquer the world in 80 days"-game. Even if exactly that is one of the first goals everyone thinks of ;D

About the manual…
There is one actually! It is just not linked by Steam…

Localised versions
The English one is also available on the official homepage of the game.

I would not recommend it though. But try it yourself!
It is a non-searchable-pdf - and it does not give you strategy hints like videos or wikis do.

If you do not like video-tutorials, I found two wikis so far

I prefer the first one. It also has less advertisements… but if you miss a page on one wiki you might have luck on the other.

Best information-source should be the paradoxplaza-forum for Crusader Kings 2!

I hope you start enjoying the game soon ;D - It's worth another try! ;)

just play, it doesnt take long to figure the game out, it has great tooltips.

And i agree, its a shame paradox didnt bother the tutorial that is bugged out from day 1.
But you dont need it.

Thanks for the support everyone. Good thing the gaming community helps each other out in the end. Not like we paid money or anything to someone who didn't do their job. They must be developers a very fine line between the work of some of these developers and polititians.
Nef Mar 25, 2013 @ 7:47am
Ok, so the developers aren't perfect. I still think they do a much better job than most big developers, especially considering their relative small size.
trueAlex555 Mar 25, 2013 @ 1:21pm
The tutorial has been fixed.
sounds like a wooosh Mar 25, 2013 @ 1:22pm
Btw. The recent update should have fixed the issue with the tutorial – Does it work now for you?
Lew Han Solo Mar 27, 2013 @ 2:08am
all fixed. Much better thanks
