Granting all extra titles to your heir?
Is it true that your heir can be granted an unlimited number of titles without any issues? If this is true, then why grant titles to anyone else? I know you still have to off load a huge number of titles durring each succession, but that doesn't take long.

yes, but it makes him very powerfull, and you might find yourself either in an assassination attempt or a faction uprising. And other vassals might dislike your heir for having titles they want

its also quite a "gamey" way of playing the game

you also lose control of your heir, which means you can't pick their wife, and it won't prompt you to educate their children (your future heirs)

Be very careful when you do this. There are countless things that can go wrong the most common (besides your heir getting tired of waiting for you to die and revolting), is that your heir can die before you do. If you've given them a bunch of titles they go to their heirs while you most likely now have a different heir. I had one king who outlived three successive generations of heirs despite my own best efforts to off the geriatric king. The end result was by the time I got a new king on the throne I had to go on a bloody twenty year campaign of familicide just to keep my country from disintegrating. By the time I finished my dynasty had lost 3/4ths of it numbers then my remaining members all contracted syphilis, and within a hundred years and despite being the most powerful country my last royal died without a heir, and game over! Game over man! The game is not afraid of making you lose, I have to say that going out with a whimper after weeks of building my kingdom was somehow uniquely satisfying.

As you can not control granted titles, your heir is able to grant them to others. I think that is one of the problem. Some of them might be "core provinces" or "indispensable titles" of yours. It may be a problem when it granted people who have "Ambitious" trait or worse than your own choice.

Moreover, if your heir has more titles than his demesne max, then he gives them away, and not likely to somebody who you want them to go to.

I have never seen my heir give any of his titles away.

I don't like the idea of gaming the system either, which is why I'm asking. If it really is an exploit I wouldn't mind making the devs aware of it. Your vassals really should incur the same penalties as you when over the max demesne.

So far I've been very sure to keep my heir happy and married, so I never encountered it chaos that crester outlined. :) I have never had my heir rebel either since the act of giving all the duchies away grants him hundreds of approval points (+500 for granted countries and +200 for granted duchies) . I'm also educating him personaly and weeding out any negative traits. At the moment my lines of succession are three generations long so I'm not too worried about things not working out.

I also think that high crown authority is working in my favour for this situation.

Don't give him all your extra titles. It's better to keep his power on the level of your another most powerful vassal. You can give what is left to some content vassals whos inheritance you're managing personally(raising his successors/getting rid of ambitious successors).

If your muslim player in the game you kinda want to give extra titles to kid or least a few. If they like you say 100 green you shouldnt worry too much about. You may have to kill off the pretenders if they hate your heir though. When I playing as a republic I had to kil the extra sons off or they would have caused problems and effect they would have drained the bank to kill other people off. Wished there was option to disown family members so they cant claim anything without you giving them titles.
