What.The.Heck.
So i had a uprising, (11th one) and it consisted of 2k troops. So i raised my army of 11k men and sent them down to fight them. All 3 commanders were brave, patient etc and had martial skills of 26+, tons of bonuses. We attack with no terrain penalties, enemy army only have a single commander. Thought everything would go like the past 10 uprisings did. The moral on my flanks SHATTER almost instantly against the commanderless flanks of the enemy. I lost several battles over and over against them, losing nearly half my army each attempt. Finally we kill them to the man, but my Emperor (who was not leading) was killed in battle. So now i have a child on the throne, with less than 1/4 of my max levies remaining.

-_-

Side question, for some reason i was losing about 100 piety every few months, and i cant for the life of me figure out why. It showed i was gaining about 2 piety every month, and i was saving up for an Invasion, but every time i got close, i would drop 100 piety. Its now at the point where i have -1 piety.

Did you attack with low moral? You need to let that little red bar turn all green before you attack. If not then no clue maybe some freaky rare glitch. 11k against 2k should be an easy victory. The piety thing idk were you declaring war on some catholic kingdoms?

are you sure it was 12k and it was just a glitch saying 2 ?

Keep in mind also that rebel armies tend to be heavily made up of light infantry which, in large numbers, will smash through you if you can't match up in the first couple phases of battle. Usually you'll start at a disadvantage against rebels like that until the heavy infantry comes to blows.

Another possibility, was your army over 60% archers?

When your army is exessive in it's archer supply, you become vulnerable to charges even from infantry. It can happen far earlier in the battle than otherwise, and results in very fast melee phase, which archers are very weak in.

I had full morale. I just got done with a campaign over in Ireland where my army absolutely crushed the coalition of dukes that tried to stop my holy war. 4.9k vs my attacking army of 8.5k. I lost 151 troops in that battle. I am tribal still, so my army mainly consists of Light Infantry and Archers. I had about 6.5k light infantry, and probably around 3k archers.

Enemy army had about 1k archers, 250 LC, and then the rest were a mix of HI and LI. (im positive about the enemy army size being only 2k). I should also point out, that the enemy morale was barely even scratched, until it moved into the later phases of battle.

Ok so there's your issue, it's the opposite of what I said. Your light infantry is getting mauled by heavies, nothing else to it.

You could have accidently right clicked somewhere and ordered your men to retreat.

I find that unlikely. I just holy warred the rest of (now feudal) Ireland, and they had a lot of heavy infantry and i came out of all the battles with barely a dent to my levies.

I've had this issue since the latest patch even with overwhelming numerical advantage I loose almost every battle soundly.
