Then my king was nearly killed in a battle and became incapable. What a good time his wife had with giving out all of his money, reducing crown laws to non-existent and finally killing him. Guess she did not like the fact that out of a dozen kids my king had only 2 were from her
Give regencies to only those you trust ;)
I think it is random, as I've seen courtiers without intrigue take over ambitious and intrigue regents. Seems like there is no other explanation. And the few times when I was a vassal and was a regent nobody replaced me, so I guess that's all random.
