Yet again... 32 bit OS Issues
Game works on patch 2.0.4 with all DLC excluding Rajas and Songs of India obviously.

Game works with no DLC on 2.1.3. That's great but I didn't pay a metric assload of money only to be unable to use it.

Game doesn't work on 2.1.3 with DLC.

Game doesn't work on 2.1.3 with DLC if I delete the gfx folder.

Command Prompt workaround doesn't work. Yes, I have more than 3 GB of RAM.

bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3072

wipe, reinstall, update .net, update drivers, update everything. report the result when you've done that.

AFAIK the game only has a 32 bit build, hence it cannot be a 32 bit game issue -- I suspect this to be a genuine bug in windows xp 32 bit which is beyond the control of paradox.

Nope.

For Windows XP users: You need to edit the Boot.ini to increase the system's RAM access.

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
Under System Startup, click Edit.
Add space /3GB to end of last line of boot.ini file
Click on File>Save>Exit

Before:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

After:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn /3GB

NOTE: I am loath to recommend this solution as other games are very likely to take offense. Guild Wars 2 for example, is a game that will immediatly crash if things aren't default. If this is the case, remove the /3GB from the Boot.ini and reboot.

That command works under Win7 or Win8 32bit just fine. Win XP uses a different name bootparameter , see both versions here

It WILL help you.

Problem is that it can cause some unwanted side effects.

In anycase, Paradox needs to edit the spec details on the store page and offer a refund for anyone who bought Rajas that doesn't have the resources to run it. Either that or figure out a better way to optimize this game.
