Imprison and ransom questions

I recenly was able to imprison one of my vassals (I had good reason...no negatives)
Her opinion of me is at -100.
She is not related to me.
I see I have two choices that I am thinking of doing:
- I can ransom her for 70 gold (would help alot) but I'm wondering if doing this just lets her keep plotting against me and not worth doing?
- I can banish her for 272 gold (would help ALOT) but wondering if it's worth it for the negative hit on all others in kingdom (-20)?

Suggestions? ideas? Tips?

ransom - she is going to still hate you
banish - if the others drop below 60, they can start factions against you

Would your suggestion be too just let her rot in prison til death? Or let her out for quick gold and hope she gives me a good reason to imprison her again?

You could also consider assassinating her while she is still in prison, it is much, much easier than doing it when she is out.

She's a Countess. It's highly unlikely whatever she was plotting would have fired anyway. Ransom her. That way when she inevitably gets caught again, you can imprison her and take her gold again.

Depends on how powerful she is in relation to you. If you are a duke, and she is a count with an alliance to someone, you might be in danger if you ransom her to go free. If you are an emperor, with 20 dukes of questionable opinion under you, banishing her might drop the opinions enough for a faction civil war. Keeping her as a prisoner would be safe in both cases.

What about ransoming then plotting her?.. No haters and you still have your money... Or just banish her, you may have enough gold to hire mercs and crush factions which may appear.

Depending on the situation, yes. In some cases just releasing her could be useful too, it should give the other vassals positive opinion bonus for being merciful.
