This might be an odd question.....
but I STILL haven't grasped how to get claims through marriages.

Say I'm king of England. How do I marry myself to a claim on Ireland? I only need one claim to get the ball rolling.

Things are just a tad slow with the chanselor.

marry yourself (or your heir) to a child or sibling of the current ruler of the title in question. (siblings will probably already have a claim and children will most likely get one when their parent dies). with some assassinations of either the current ruler or their extra children you'll ideally want to have either your character or your heir married to someone with either a strong claim or even more ideally the new ruler themself or the heir of the ruler. then with more deaths a bit later you'll want your heir to have inherited claims to that title or again be married to the ruler of that title. then when you take over as your heir they'll have a strong claim that you can press. or you can go ahead and press your childrens claims as your current character and if its a lower title they'll become your vassals as long as they're still your dynasty. or option 2 if you can get a male character with a claim from their court to come to your court (marriage being the easiest way unless they're in line to inherit) then you can give them a county to make them a vassal and then press their claim and they'll stay your vassal as long as the title is lower than yours. the second way is easier but wont work if the title is equal to yours. if its an equal title then you'll have to go through all the marriages to end up with a strong claim on one of your future characters

EDIT: short version, strong claims are inheritable, end up married to someone with a strong claim so when they die your children inherit their claim

since this is ireland we're talking about just pick it apart duchy by duchy by getting males with claims to come to your court and then giving them little counties somewhere and then pressing their claims

Option 2 seems perfect. I stumbled on the bit where I gave them a county to start with.

Since my evil Pagan empire stretches from the baltic to the black sea, giving away one title doesn't really break me. Thanks.
