What is the best way to learn how to play this game?
It seems so complicated and confusing..

My suggestion? Watch videos and... Well, play it! The more you play, the more you'll learn.

True. That is why it is so rewarding, entertaining.. and time consuming. There are literally months of gameplay in it. And still then it can surprise you, in a good way. Not that it takes months to learn it, don't worry.

Best advice: Choose with the heart at first, which realm to play, what religion, what seems the best thing to do and so on. Then just play along and see what happens. The deeper game mechanics will more or less reveal themselves in the fullness of time. Otherwise just feel free to ask.

I suggest to start in Ireland 1066. You're pretty save there from foreign invasions and don't have any overwhelmingly strong claimants on your holdings. This way you can learn the basics undisturbed.

Watch tutorials! Read stuff on the wikis. And ask questions on this forum.

Here is a list of CK2 youtube tutorials that I've watched and that helped me start:

Aggripa Maxentius' playlist:

Eviscerator03's (Evis T) playlists:
Technology system:
Republics tutorials:

An other good playlist is Tekk's Tavern tutorials:

Those are for the most part really basic tutorials. Once you understand the game well enough, you can jump in some of Arumba's CK2 playthroughs:

For tutorials concerning the DLC stuff, try looking at the most recent tutorials. Aggripa Maxentius' tutos are pretty recent I think.

Just start clicking on stuff. Maybe a little light reading on Feudalism to supplement.

Playing with tips activated. Start in Ireland, any count will do (I prefer that of Dublin, as he soon becomes a Duke).

As said previously, watch Evis T's tutorials.

If You decide to play, start as one count of Ireland. It's the best place to learn how that game works.
