Crusader Kings II
I think i need a tutorial.
Actually, i tought i can jump into CKII without much trouble since i've been playing a lot of EUIV recently. Well, after i started CKII and noticing that EUIV behaves to CKII like babies first strategy game i admit that i might need a tutorial.

I did the lessons but i have the feeling that they only explain the service. Is there a tutorial or collection of tutorials you would recommend? Especially for the DLC mechanics. It doesnt matter if its written or a video.

Something like the EUIV tutorial series by LegendaryMarvin. A rather well done 160 Minutes long explanation of all game mechanics. Sadly, only avaiable in german. Have a link anyway.

They aren't really tutorials, but Arumba07 has some good videos that really helped me get into the game.
The best 'tutorial' is to pick a relatively easy character (maybe an Irish count), fiddle with all the menus and fail miserably a few times.

Or, alternatively, watch Arumba's or Quill18's CK2 videos on Youtube.
Check out "Evis T's Crusader Kings II Tutorial" and his Republic tutorials in the guides section of this site. Just click on guides at the top of this page. I've looked at quite a few guides and walkthroughs by various players on YouTube but, to me, Evis seems to present the clearest and most consise information on the game

The single-county irish Duke would be better, more power but still without the hassle.

The Count of Dublin is a great start since you're almost guaranteed another county within a few years.

--> Duchy of Dublin -> claim on Kildare.

Or something along those lines, assuming post-Old Gods patches haven't changed the situation in Ireland (Haven't played much after TOG). Easy, low risk and decent potential.

Hello,
Here are a list of CK2 youtube tutorials that I've watched and that helped me start:

Aggripa Maxentius' playlist:
www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfm9XNvwBFG92VYEMX1K1y-mD27SfNnmH

Eviscerator03's (Evis T) playlists:

Technology system: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKsDaJ9Fjvo
Republics tutorials: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm9CX0dv6O4

An other good playlist is Tekk's Tavern tutorials:
www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDF61F4A4275A64D4

Those are for the most part really basic tutorials. Once you understand the game well enough, you can jump in some of Arumba's CK2 playthroughs:

For tutorials concerning the DLC stuff, try looking at the most recent tutorials. Aggripa Maxentius' tutos are pretty recent I think.
Thanks for the links. That's probably a sticky candidate.
Thank you for those links, MedimTek! I just installed CKII for the very first time a while ago and I'll set aside a couple hours to watch those...
Its easiest to start as an Irish Count or Welsh Duke of Gwynedd
There are some in-game tutorials to do, but the best tip I can give you is to start as the Earl of Dublin, in Ireland, and play with the hints activated. Ireland's very slow, easy and you have the potential to work yourself from Earl to High King.

The minor irish dukes in 1066 work well too.

Ireland is noob isle, but you run into issues once you form ireland, as Scottland and England can be impossible walls without some solid ursurption skills.

Scotland is in the middle of a war in 1066, and England usually has a Norman king ruling over Anglo-Saxon people. They have rebellions a lot.

This guy has a 10 part CK2 tutortial series, and it's awesome. After watching these videos, I got right into CK2 and actually knew what to do :P

But there is always more to learn.

EDIT: I notice a few other people posted his links as well, so that says something, I'd say!

And once you want to test your metal, try starting in The Old Gods in Iceland :D

Bah, ToG iceland can just hide in Ireland or England with his pagan buddies and abandon his homeland. Karen or Khazaria or some other extreme minority religion is a better test.
