Wine Really Is Thicker than Blood, Apparently
I understand what Paradox was trying to do with Conclave and the 2.5 patch: they wanted more sibling rivalry, especially among title claimants, to make it more realistic. They wanted the kind of acrimony, deception, and petty plotting that marked rivalries of this era. It was a very good idea on Paradox's part; too bad it did not work.

Actually, it worked in the sense that sibling rivalry is now unavoidable. Paradox did well there. The problem is that they did too well; they put a bit too much paint on their brush. They took rivalry among siblings to such a ludicrious extreme that even a friendly indifference is no longer possible, much less friendship. I recently came to the throne and had to imprison all 5 of my brothers. All of them. Not a single one was ambitious, either.

Friendship and cooperation is almost impossible between siblings right now and this is, to me, farcical. It feels like a childish imitation of the medieval era. Should every king of England have a blond beard like Richard and should every Frenchman have a swarthy moustace? Should every Italian be corrupt and should every bishop spend the day shoving bread and mutton down his gullet? Let's not stoop to farce, Paradox.

I had to beat all my siblings with a stick when I was younger, else they would all steal my candy...
