Breaking down of an Alliance

How do I prevent my alliances from breaking down. Is it because of opinion or not helping during wars?

well, theres your problem

suppose you and a buddy are getting bullied, so you say youll stand up against him next time together

well the day comes that the bully wants to pick on you both again, youve been psyching eachother for this fight for a week

well, the bully throws the first punch, your friend is on the ground, bully threatening to drop a loogey (spelling?) into his mouth, whole time hes screaming "help me, hit him hit him"

and you respond with "hey im here aint i? aint that enough?"
