Does Learning stat help at all?

I played one game as Brittany and invested in Learning stat rulers and noticed that I was leaveling up tech very fast which was really cool and what I wanted.

I tried a few different games as other Dukes and did not get the same results at all. In fact, it felt below average.

Does Leaning stat actually do anything?

What about the ahead penalty?

oh they help with the pope and like studying but basically kinda useless

It does give you a boost to learning all techs, and it also contributes to the amount of piety you gain each month.

It's mostly useful for fast tech and some interactions.

If you go to your tech screen and mouse over the gain per month, it'll show you how much of it is from your Learning stat.
