I Never Thought I'd Say This, But EU4 is Now a Better Game

Crusader Kings 2 is a rare game that has actually gotten worse with each DLC and patch. The whole "Pagan Norse Superman" fantasy completely ruined the game. I get that it is a sandbox game that is only loosely based on history at this point, and that's fine. But my suspension of disbelief has limits, and some of this stuff is just too absurd.

Then when you thought it couldn't get worse, along comes the "100% cavalry retinue army" nomads.

Now we have fantasy demon children and all kinds of other childish crap. It's really awful.

then dont play with those expansions?? I love the demons and stuff. who cares if its historically accurate? go play the game you want to and stop complaining.

This game has completely gone to hell. The Scandinavian developers of the game decided that every minor count Norseman was going to be a superman with 2000+ troops who can raid you no matter where you are, regularly destroy entire holdings.... it's just absolutely moronic. The game is unplayable now.

So turn off the DLC. Play in other parts of the map. India is pretty safe from Vikings.

Git gud, also the game never really meant to be all that historical.
Not to mention the fact that norse AI is rather weak and if anything it could get buffed for the sake of gameplay.

The little "my ancestors were supermen" fantasy has no place in the game. It's completely unhistorical, unrealistic, not fun as a game element. This was one of the best games ever made at a certain point, and they managed to actually make the game worse with their overpriced DLCs.

EU4 is trash. One could argue that Vic 2 is better than Ck 2 or vice versa, but EU4 is just way too abstracted imo. I mean, just look at the combat system, you literally only have one type of infantry, cavalry, and artillery at a time (at least since I played it). Plus, the slightly ugly ck2 map is at least less annoying than the disgusting EU4 map.

Stop playing Byzantines on easy. Actually get good enough to play OPMs on hard, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Yes, at its core CK2 is a much better game. But the last few DLCs have taken that great game and just shredded it.

I've never played on easy and actually like 95% of my starts are single province. But nice try anyway.

If you think the Norse are bad, try holy warring the Slavs. A two province high chiefdom usually gets 10k troops (including allies) within a month of being at war. Plus you have that insane defense bonus they get. It's crazy.

If some powerful ai wants to end you, it will end you, no matter what tricks you resort to. If not, then understand that you were lucky enough to survive and stop lying to yourself about having good gaming skills.
You are mad about "my ancestors were supermen", yeah totally different from Sweden being a lucky nation in EU :)

I am not a paradox fanboy exactly, but I think there are plenty of real flaws to be mad about.

I play always start as a single county duke.. Been raided tons of times by vikings, Or should i said, they have tried to raid me.. They are so easy to beat down it's not even funny.

But come on, if you don't like one of the DLC's turn it off, Or use a different patch.. It's not that hard. Not every game is made exactly how everyone likes it. If you don't enjoy it now, Roll back to when you did. Is it that hard?

I play at 2.4.5 because that is what i really enjoy.. Its a patch from 2 years ago. Closing in on 1k hours now. I really don't get how people get so angry about things especially when you can do something about it.

It's like the folks that complain about pricing on games, Don't like the price, don't buy it. For those that wan't to spend the money, more power to um. It's how great games get developed.. Because if everyone waiting for games to cost 3 bucks, we would have a lot of really crappy games..

So thanks to all that buys, and buys early, at times even i do my part.
