This is a very fun and challenging Turn-Based-Strategy game. It is just a shame there is no campaign mode.
You basically play just one map and one group of adversaries. Once you finish off your adversaries the game is over. However, you get to pick the difficulty level, map size (Islands, Continents, Supercontinents, or Great Land), Depending on the size of your map you then get to choose how many adversaries you face. So this one and done combat mode can be quite long if you choose a big map and six adversaries.
Resource management is easy, which I like. You just build structures based on what you need most for your characters to succeed and then you never have to monitor them. You have spells, characters you create through your facilities, and also characters that come along and offer their services for a price. Take care of these out-sourced characters as they become quite powerful as they level up, and once they are dead their gone. Other than that, research lots of spells and kick some mage butt.
pros: combat, easy of resource management, good graphics and sound, plenty of cool spells to research, plenty of unique characters.
Cons: no campaign, may not be complex enough for hard core RTS gamers.
Worth $20 but probably best to pick it up at one of Steams many holiday sales.
