Fortune Summoners: Secret of the Elemental Stone

My game seems to be holding down the x button...
I play with a gamepad but I setup Xpadder so I can use the other buttons that the game doesn't include. For example, I set up the D-pad to be the main way of moving since it feels most natural for me. In other words I'm using my gamepad to press keyboard buttons.

I've gotten to the point where you first play as Stella and the game will blow right through text without giving me a chance to read it, Stella will charge up a spell after I stop moving. I'm not even pressing a button but as soon as I do she releases the spell then instantly charges it up again.

Help pls~

Well I think I solved this on my own here, I need to disconnect the gamepad then start the game then reconnect the game pad while the game is running...

The game seemed to be freaking out because it thought I was pressing "Button 3" on my gamepad and Xpadder would send the corresponding key on my keyboard that the button was set to. But I still don't get why the attack command was being held down...

Oh well, one more annoying thing to do before I play this game...

Nope, after a while the game puts the gamepad controls back and she starts charging spells again. WHERE IS THE OPTION TO TURN OFF GAMEPAD CONTROLLS.

I want to strictly use keyboard controlls but this damn game keeps thinking I want to use the gamepad controlls and it keeps giving me this glitch.

Why do you need xpadder to use the d pad? doesn't the game let you use the d pad by default?
currypunch Jun 24, 2013 @ 1:46am
If you use motionjoy (DS3 tool) and a ps3 controller to play, then Don't do the vibration testing after you plug in your controller. This allows you to play with the d pad and not the analog sticks. That's how it is for me anyway.

I use a wireless xbox controler. The game does let you use the d-pad but the game doesn't let you change what buttons move your character, so I tried using xpadder so I can assign the dpad to press the arrow keys and allow me to use the d-pad to move my character.

But the game thinks that just because I have my controler connected that I want to play with gamepad controls. When I'm actually using my xbox controler to press keyboard buttons through xpadder. Its overlapping, it reads "I pressed a button on the gamepad controls" and "the key it was assigned to" when it should only read that "I pressed a key on my keyboard" and not my gamepad.

I've done this with many games with no problems, I even did this with Chantelise. I assigned a button to press the x and c keys so I could easily press a button on my gamepad to perform a dash, instead of pressing 2 buttons on my gamepad to do one action I could press an unused button to do that action. I used the gamepad controls and the keyboard controls at the same time, I never had any problems.

So the problem is that when you press the dpad, it hits the arrow keys plus whatever the d pad buttons are assigned to in the game. Are the dpad buttons set up to anything in the gamepad setup menu in the game? Choosing default settings might clear that up. Then the d pad won't be set up to anything but the arrow keys.

But If the problem is that glitch where you hold nothing down and for some reason the attack button is being held down, plus the text skips, then I have no idea.. It kind of sounds like all of the buttons are being held down at the same time.

I even removed all of the gamepad controls, the hotkey screen for the gamepad is blank. The only action I can't remove is moving my character with the analog stick which isn't a problem.

The problem is that glitch. I can not think of any possible way of how the keybindings are causing this glitch.

This can be easily fixed by just not having the game automatically go to gamepad controls when I have my controler connected. The game ran perfectly for about 30 minutes with my setup until it realized that I was using a gamepad again and then started charging spells...

Its a load of bs.

So if the game reads that you have a controller plugged in, you can't play this game at all while using xpadder. For me, the only way to make the game not read my controller would be to unplug it and plug it in again. But whenever something happens outside of the game like another window pops up or something, the game reads my controller again, but i can just unplug it and plug it again, even while the game is running. Maybe you can try that whenever it starts charging spells. It does seem like a minor annoyance though, but maybe it'll work.

Or you could buy this logitech f series gamepad that i keep reading about. It has a mode button that can switch the d pad and the analog sticks, plus it works with a 360 and ps3. The price for them on amazon ranges from $20-$60 though.

These are the only things I can think of.

I can start the game without connecting my controler but as soon as the game recognizes its there it never goes away. I can still change its hotkeys in the game menu.

Welp, life screws me over yet again.

This game isn't going to be updated either so if anyone finds a fix or work around tell me...

I just tried disconnecting the controler when she started charging spells and she continues to charge them. This is purely a game malfunction. All I did was load the save and she started charging spells I didn't even press a button.

Guess the only way to play is by keyboard or the default gamepad settings. QQ

Alright I have one more idea. Instead of using xpadder, try using joy to key. It's another program that lets you attach keyboard keys to your gamepad buttons, and it's free. I tried using it with Fortune Summoners and it doesn't have that glitch.
K_rent Jun 26, 2013 @ 2:36pm
I tried joy to key and it did the same thing. I updated xpadder with no luck either. The only thing it seems I can do right now is to load my game and then connect my gamepad and hope that it doesn't freak out.

Here's what happens~
- Load game with the default gamepad controls = fine
- Load game with gamepad with either program running = glitch
- Load game with keyboard then connect gamepad = iffy
- Get glitch, remove gamepad & use keyboard = glitch
- Load game with keyboard (no gamepad) with programs running = fine

I don't get it.

Well thanks for your help but it seems i'm screwed no matter what here.

Dang. Well, it was worth a shot.
No problem.
