Why are there RACE categories on different items?????
I've notice that some items, like weapons or shields have a category for race on the item when you read the stats of it. I have a staff the has HUMANS as its race...And a shield that has VIKING has that item's race....... Does anybody know why and/or how this has any bearing on the strategy of this game???? Thanks in advance

I think it affects morale. It's like how unead ARMIES negatively affect human units or whatever, an undead ITEM would also do the same thing. The items themselves can be affected as well I think, and you need to battle them to bring them back into line if they revolt.

.... do a bit of reading

If you you an items race (enemy troops belonging to that race) the morale will drop and eventually rebel

It is a possible source of free exp

So if I equip a shield with a race of vikings listed on the shield...and I go to battle with MY group of vikings, then my vikings will get a morale bonus???? Or from reading your posts, it seems like your saying that if my shield is equiped and I go to battle AGAINST some vikings, then it has a negative effect on the enemy vikings??? I might have to do some testing on this because there is NO forums that help with this topic. And the manual doesn't say anything about it either.

I tested for a little bit, but to no avail. I have NO clue what the race categories are for on items....If anybody knows the answer to this then please respond...It could a strategy method..

They people above are right, however alot items with race don't actually have an item morale so there isn't any effect. You can look for it its a number from 0 - 100 at 0 it pretty much rebels and you have to to fight the keepers to reclaim it. If you press info you can read what it rebels from. Ring of the snake king rebels if you kill snakes so items with race work with same principle and don't like when you kill that race. So basically press info on the item and read what effects it.

So the LEATHER SHIELD for example (you can buy it early in the game). It has RACE/VIKINGS and MORALE/EXCELLENT! (100)...Can you please explain what would happen if I equip this item???

Race on item will show you the race of army on the corrupted item or the item with low morale

The army of keepers

The race of the item also defines the enemies popping up when upgrading an item. I don't think the race has other influences for your character except for the upgrading and morale of the item itself (if it has one).

Ok I understand that it affects the type of army that pops up against you when you upgrade an Item...But nobody gave me the example from the above post. (If you equipped the leather shield). What happens??? And I dont know what x-nobep meant my corrupted item..WHAT CORRUPTED ITEMS? (im only on second Island tho. LOL).
Elenoe 12. nov. 2012 kl. 14:59
ehm, if you have viking(100) item equipped and you BEAT viking army, morale of ITEM will drop a little (doesn't affect your/enemy unit morale in any way). When it reach (0), item renders itself useless (corrupted) until you submit army in that item, making it usable and (100) again.

So.. if you have another item, just swap it before you attack race the item belongs to. So it lasts longer. But submitting item is not always hard. I used same mage staff (viking) to the end without hesitation. Just time to time won the item battle (in the first round) to restore it from (0) to (100) again.

Thank you Elenoe. I understand how the race on items work now. But what if that army that you battle against has just one or two Vikings in it??? And the other units are Bears for example???And not a FULL group of race??? does it matter in that scenario???

Probably the % amount of moral drop of the item itself is not as big as it would be when fighting 5 troops of e.g. vikings. Just a speculation though.
