Game was incredible while is was still alive. Americas Army was always under the radar when compared to other shooters of its time , Counter Strike / COD / Battlefield . However this game scratched an itch that the others just couldn't. probably mostly nostalgia being the culprit , this game and its original incarnation (AA:Operations and Special Forces) were a staple of my gaming rotation for the better part of 20 years . Something about having to actually go through basic training , qualify to become a sniper , learn to become a medic all before you could acctually go online and play these roles in game made it feel that much more gratifying. Although it never reached the fame of the aforementioned games above , the quality of this title and the community behind it were second to none.

Alas Americas Army does have one last hope even though it is officially offline , there is a private server AA25Assist (see link below) reincarnation of the AA 2.5 (special forces) release from the late 2000's. This version of the game is probably the best IMO - the maps and gameplay in this version are superior IMO compared to the Proving Grounds release. There is much more depth in the training modes as well as the maps becing a bit more complex and requiring more team work than the stripped down simple A , B C lanes of Proving Grounds - https://aao25.com/forum/ There are not a ton of players but on the weekends you can find a couple full servers with a dedicated playerbase that comes together to relive the nostalgia on the weekends. If you are interested definitely give it a shot , it is a lost relic of the golden era of online multiplayer shooters from the early to late 2000's , a time when the internet was much simpler and games were built for the love of the craft instead of the all mighty dollar.

At first, I was very hesitant to try this video game but soon learned to put aside my politics but not projecting, talking, and judging and listening.

I soon felt the love in this small community.

And I learned to love again.
