No controller?
This would seem to be a prime contender for controller use... and we're stuck with carpal tunnel? *sigh*

I mapped the keyboard strokes to my controller buttons. And I added rapid-fire for the fire button. It worked great and made the game much easier. Perhaps too easy. The bosses were a breeze.

Which program did you use? There are tons of them, although many seem to charge these days.

New version has 360 controller support apparently. Twitter post about 2.00.5 .

should work with any controller but I only managed to test it with 360 and Logitech

yay, thats what I was waiting for. Controller support is still not yet listed on the shop-site - glad I looked inside the discussion board :D

Haven't got hiscore entry working with controller yet, and a couple of other little things need sorting, before it can be listed with "full controller support".

Thanks for the support! I wasn't expecting an update for this, but I'm quite pleased that it's being worked on. This is exactly the sort of developer attention that I, for one, value greatly.

Ah, sadly the reality is that maintaining things and improving things is not the path to riches though. But we do it anyway.

Don't want to bump and old post but since I just finished the 1st round of intense titan attack, I feel that a controller will not give the precision and speed needed for this type of games.

Example when I need to move just 1mm(exagerating but you get the meaning) to slot my ship between 2 incoming attacks...I don't think controller gives that type of precision. Also for bonus stage when you need to go left and right very fast the mouse can basically teleport your ship if you move fast enough but a controller will not be as fast.

You are right, mouse+keyboard beats controllers every time, but these modern kids who don't know any better will insist...
Atomkinder Jan 13, 2013 @ 10:25am
Modern kids? I've been playing games since Commander Keen. There are some games with which I enjoy a controller, and many others that require a mouse and keyboard, that's all.

LOL - Commander Keen. Yes, you modern kids :) Commander Keen came out 10 years after I'd written my first game!

At some point you're going to have to look back and realize that a game that came out 22 years ago simply doesn't qualify anyone as a "modern kid" any more. Just like the old timers at work complain about CNC machines, except they aren't that modern anymore either, people just get stuck in the past.

As I like to intone... I am old and busted :) I am also hopelessly inept at using controllers but I reckon I'll get the hang of them. I was after all brought up on a diet of joysticks.
