How is playing this game even possible?!
So, 30 seconds into the game, Lara falls on a spike. "Mash E to pull"... mashing E does nothing. She just sits there moaning.

Is it possible to actually play this ♥♥♥♥ing game!?!

Welcome to the menace of the quick time event; something nobody asks for and yet everybody receives.

Tomb Raider Legend had about three QTEs in the whole game which were quite dynamic and flowed well with the leves that they appeared in. Anniversary and Underworld had none at all (thank God). Why did Crystal come up with them now? No idea.

I had similar problems mainly due to my FPS, which makes some QTEs a matter of luck rather than skill.

Without spoiling anything, I must warn you to brace yourself. The spike QTE is probably the most well placed and tolerable QTE from a selection of about a hundred that you will eventually encounter.

I'm pretty sure I will NOT encounter any more QTEs in this game, considering that after an hour of trying I could not pull that spike out. If only I could get a refund for this POS.

I dont see how you have a problem with QTE's they arent even hard

You may be 'mashing' too fast, try tapping at a rythm closer to a marching band (slightly faster then once per second).
Also, make sure you get decent framerates, the time the system has to detect keypress increases with framerate.

Yeah. It's not broken if most people got past it fine. Honestly, the wolf QTE is going to kill you if you're struggling with the simple spike. Now THAT QTE was broken. They actually had to patch it.

well, if you play with a computer from 2008 you wont come far, but try to put the resolution to the lowest setting and the graphics too!

Played it several times - completed the game with 100% - worked fine on my 2-year old laptop and desktop system (both running AMD Radeon graphics). On my desktop I run the game using the ultra settings (although I turn off the "tressfx" - just think it's a waste of processor time...

If you're unable to get the spike out you might want to check your keyboard mappings - maybe you've changed the key by accident. Also, if you're having system issues it helps to post your hardware information (cpu, gpu, operating system, installed ram, etc...) since we can't give you any specific answers if we don't know what you're trying to play the game on.

Make sure that you've installed all of the latest updates to Windows and your graphics card if available.

I double-checked my drivers and keymappings. I have a GTX 560Ti, and I turned all my gfx settings to the lowest possible, gameplay to easy. I even set up my Corsair K90 macro keys to press E at various intervals (random interval, 200 ms, 50 ms, 500 ms, and several other timings) and nothing at all works.

It's likely your keyboard software is interfering with the game (3rd-party drivers often do this) - try running the game without the drivers and see if it works. You didn't mention anything other than your graphics card so we don't have any idea if you might have any other issues that would result in a problem with the game. How does the game run on "normal" settings - how old is your system - is it a desktop or laptop - have you updated the drivers to the most recent Nvidia drivers (Tomb Raider seems to be optimized for AMD...)?

Anniversary also had a bunch of quicktime events. Remember that all the fights with Larson, Pierre, Kid and Kold were reduced to QTE and the final fight also heavily relied on this concept.

I hate QTEs, but the appear less and less as you progress in this game, luckily.

nVidia Driver version 306.97;
CPU: AMD FX-4100;
No noticeable framerate issues on high settings;
System is less than 2 yrs old;

I tried xbox controller as well (wired) and it didn't work either.

Did you try playing the game without the software for the keyboard?
Axastark Aug 31, 2013 @ 3:39pm
No but I'm really not sure how disconnecting my keyboard is going to help. Also, I'm not going to play a game that doesn't work with a god damn keyboard.

Отлично играется на контроллере xbox 360 для Windows wireless, все рабоатет и все играется отлично. Хотя стреляю мышкой все же по снаперски если надо XD

You indicated that you couldn't get the keyboard to work - I thought it might be the software that you're using to program the keyboard, not the keyboard itself. And I didn't say that you need to disconnect the keyboard.

But hey, don't take my advice. I'm playing it with a Logitech cordless keyboard and I haven't had any issues with Tomb Raider.
