An annoying game! Good riddance!

I thought it was a good idea to buy this game in the sales - after 3 hours game play, I deeply regret it!
There are numerous instances there you have to mash buttons EXACTELY the same way, the game wants you to, otherwise you die - and then you have to repeat tha boringt section over and over and over and over and over again, until just by change you got it right!

The first of such sequences is when you get attacked by a wolf and you have to mash the < > buttons, then at the EXACT right moment F to kick it, then at the EXACT right moment keep mashing E to fight it. You will easily have to replay this boredom 20-30 times. God how tedious!

Next the game sends you sliding down ravines, a waterfall, then you paraglide through a forest. You find yourself moving so fast, that it is impossible to recognise and avoid obstacles ahead of time. The learning curve here is to remember where you got impaled or crushed the last times, and keep repeating the sequences again, and again, and again, and again........and again, and yet again, until you find yourself cussing.
For the rest...., well...., the game leads you from A to B to C to D...... No freedom, no liberty to explore, no nothing!

After 3 hours game play I deleted it from my computer.

Seriously, the game has been out for months and has been reviewed by the major gaming sites and magazines. If you were interested in the game all you needed to do was check any of those places and you could've found out about the issues you've complained about. I never recommend that anyone buy a game if they have any doubt about it and judging from the sales and the reviews the latest Tomb Raider has been generally received positively.

I guess you should be happy that you didn't pay full price for the game because it's obvious you don't care for it. I've played thru the single player several times and I think it's worthwhile - but that's my opinion. Hopefully you'll find somethng else you like better.

lol i completed the game and re playing again to get SP achievements,
for 1st wolf encounter, if u feel bad with keyboard + mouse, try using a controller
for river sliding - parachute ... well, all u need is good luck

the game metascore is good, graphic is good, story is good, gameplay is good, and i can running it in ultimate quality is very good...$12 price is good for this good game

Controller works FAR better for this game than keyboard/mouse. With that said, my girlfriend pulled it off with keyboard in 1-3 tries during those sequences you're complaining about. Basically, you just suck at games.

No liberty to explore, you say? Wrong. Every new area is able to be explored. There are tons of hidden items all over the island, and when you are at a camp, you are given the option to travel to other camps to return to previous areas and gather ammo, salvage, hunt, search for things, explore tombs, etc. There are plenty of hours of gameplay in this game. Plenty of things to do and unlock.

Tomb Raider is one of the best games I've ever played. It's a shame that the fantastic work done by Crystal Dynamics is lost on people like you.

Get an Xbox controller for Windows and try again.

If it seriously takes 20-30 times, try playing on easy. I've been playing it on Hard and it only took two tries. The game is amazing and if you got it for $12, what is the big deal? The fast pace keeps the adrenaline going and on your toes. I loved a lot of those points in the game. The gameplay is about timing and not just mashing buttons.

I'm not a huge fan of QTEs either, and I'll agree that some sequences were a bit frustrating at first because I had no idea what to expect and dying a couple of times as a result was inevitable (and yes, the river sliding part was kinda annoying), but don't let that one aspect of the game ruin the rest of it for you. I find that there's plenty to explore and a good deal of freedom that you're given between story objectives, so no, it's absolutely not an on-rails experience as you put it. It's also one of the few games I've played where I actually want to watch the cut-scenes because I actually find them reasonably well done, at least better than I expected.

It's a shame that you rage-quit the game for the QTEs alone, but really, I'm terrible at them as well and I still find the game highly enjoyable. It's one of the best action-adventure shooters I've had the pleasure of playing in a LONG time, and for only $10 off Amazon, it was an absolute steal for the entertainment value.

ya i agree you're just a newb. Having to do the sequence 2-4 times is not bad at all. It's a beautiful game with great gameplay and yes there IS a decent amount of exploring to do to find things of value.

the only times I found that I died was when in the water/sliding/parachuting sections where you get one hit deaths on silly spots.....especially the parachuting section. But I find the game lets you figure that stuff out for the most part. The game for the most part is pretty darn easy.

Hey look, I didn't know much about this game aswell and I thought maybe this is a waste. Once you get passed them 3 hours you will have much more fun. :) I am seven hours in and I am enjoying it.
