quicktime events not showing buttons to mash

So after watching Lara get strangled 20 times in a row I gave up trying to play.
There are more quicktime button mashing events in this game then the amount of button mashing required in a game of tetris..
For some reason my game wont show which buttons actually need mashing so i'm forced to just try by sheer luck, which obviously does not work very well .. anyone know what might be causing this ?

It s an option, in the in-game options menu, setting the display of buttons to push on or off.

The subtitles can also block the notifications of which key to press.

Well, you need to remember the symbols. Look into the buttonconfigurationsmenu, there you can see which button belongs to which symbol.

I must admit that i got strangled 100.000.000 times before i finally killed that guy. Here is what you need to do:

1. Push F
2. Push F
3. Push A and D, A and D, A and D and so on (<- ->)
4. After a while you need to push E (shoot the guy in the head)

Yes, I get strangled a lot of times too, but I just went to the key configuration, and look for body to body action, or something like that... That obviously is the "F" key... I tried, and after that all the keys you need to press, appears a symbol first! But the fact is, at the beggining, you don't have any symbol that relates to "F" key...

Anyway, the game is awesome! And is just on that specific point of the game, when you kill that guy who tries to strangle you, that the real action begins!

This is highly frustrating though, half the time it only gives me half a second to see what kind of buttons it wants me to mash now, and with a big monitor my eyes are not focussed on the part where they decide to put whatever indicator ..
The other half of the time it just seems to ignore my button pressing all together :/

This isnt working, the game isnt responding at all when i need to push E
no matter how hard i mash away at it or keep it pressed down.

Same thing happens to me with the "e" . No matter how hard I try there's always something wrong, whether I do it too slow or too fast I don't even know,it's really annoying for the quick-time events, especially at the end of the game. And seeing Lara getting killed over and over is rather annoying when it goes to 1 time to over 20 because of the wrong timing. (which is not clear at all)

First of all, I was kind of wrong... The symbol of the Melee - (the "F" key) appears on the screen, but only after you failed to hit it...

About that, and talking for my personal experience on that specific part of the game, there are no wrong timing or doing it too fast! You just have to press the right key repeatedly, as soon as possible after the symbol appears on the screen! Just don't start before the symbol appears, now that you know what keys are going to show up next!

The "E" are going to be the one you have to it faster! Not sooner, just faster! But not like a crazy! LOL Just faster then the others...

And that's all... The game hasn't any problem related to responding when you push a key, you just need to do it as soon as you can after the symbol appears, and as faster as you can after you start pushing it!

And for your help, as posted before, here it is, all you need to know:

I really hope that you can figure it out, and complete this "mini game", because the game really deserves it, and believe me when I say that this is when the game really gets interesting, with all silent arrow headshots, and gun fights... The game are really awesome!
Give it a try, and pass trough that damn strangling guy!!!!

That kind of... takes the fun of playing the game... Next step is using aimbot, God-Mode or something...
I really don't see the point of using such things!
Anyway, if you enjoy using something that takes some of the game challenges from you, be my guest! It's not a multiplayer, you aren't messing with other player's game experience, so... You use whatever you want, and enjoy the way you like to play your games! Fine by me! But "amazing"? I don't think so... (Personal opinon, obviously)

When you get to the E button segment you don't hace to tap too fast...tap a bit slower but keep a steady flow...you will see the icon responding as it pulls out. Then shoot the guy.

I just saw this pop up again and I feel like it warrants a comment.
I don't see why people are bothered by things someone does in SP. I wanted to play the game to do the story, not to break my keyboard. The button mashing absolutely has no value in that game other then artificially lengthening it in my opinion.
At the time I found a whole pile of complaints about the QTE's in various places, having the ability to just skip those certainly improved my SP gaming experience and it ended up with me actually finishing the game instead of getting annoyed half way through and going off to play something else.

Also this thread is almost a year old now.
Next to this, this game is rated pegi-18, which means I'm pretty sure that people who make accusations like 'his mother still spoon feeds them' require a few more years before they should be allowed to play this game. Please talk to your mother or contact your kindergarten teacher with what you did for appropriate punishment.
