The game doesnt give much help with that (Until after the events, where the help is not needed anymore).
If i recall correctly; The hand = E, Exclamation mark (!) = F, and then theres another for Shift (Cant recall the symbol though).
But look in your key mapping. The symbols are displayed there.

Press F for hand to hand combat. The white circle will get smaller until the center turns red. At that moment press F. You'll have to do this twice, before you get to the next part of the scene.

Enjoy ONE of the great annoyances of this console-port. The QTE experience. IT's throughout the entire game and actually gets worse as you go. Some of it will have absolutely no bearing on what is going on in the game or in the cutscene, but apparently that's not what's important. Just pressing that ambiguous button that they won't explain which one in it is... that is deadly important... enjoy!

I got through them easily, though?

Then you're using a gamepad. I'm told the button information shows up if you have a gamepad plugged in (gotta love bad console ports). But uhh.. this is a computer. If I wanted to use a gamepad I could have saved myself a few thousand dollars and went to buy a cheap $200 console to play it on.

Once you know the key presses expected, you don't have to sweat the timing... just repeatedly press the key that's expected (slowly, no need to break your keyboard) and it will ignore the extra ones and accept the one that occurs at the proper moment. Using this method I've found the QTE's to be easy (yes even the wolf attack QTE).

I wouldn't normally suggest such a cheesy method, but there seems to be some weird lag when using a keyboard for the QTEs and this compensates for that.
