Campaign Length
Anyone else feel a little bummed that the campaign is supposed to be about 11-15 hours?
At least that's what I read somewhere.. I feel like the game should be longer.

10 - 15 hours is about average these days, back in the PS1 era the tomb raider games took twice as long to complete but then you didn't have twice as much to look at if you think about it.

they have to put so much more into games nowadays, production values have gone up, music score, graphics and sadly the dreaded DLC all means game time is down to 10 - 15 hours average.

Some very good games recently have lasted only this long, but they are still good games, and back in the SNES days, I remember Starfox lasting you a single sitting, it was that short, but looked fantastic doing it..

Enjoy tomb raider, its bound to be a cracking game..!!

Does that count returning to previously explored areas with your new equipment and getting further? side stuff I mean, look at Skyrim the main quest was short as hell but the side stuff is what made the game.

That's what I'm thinking (hoping). In their hour long demo for IGN they passed by a tomb without delving into it and progressed just fine. Tombs (and treasuse/artifacts/etc) seem to be optional side stuff and as such, probably aren't counted in the game length. I just hope that there are a fair number of them to find and explore.

The come back and explore has a bit of a Metroid Prime(s) feel to it, searching for missile expansions different beams and such, if each of these tombs gets us useful stuff such as increased health, weapons and so on I will be delving to my hearts content. XD

Yeah I think it's fair for a game like this.

But tbh, I don't fully understand anyone's issue with those given numbers. I mean, they only reflect one straight, main objective playthrough.

It's up to your play style and actions that measure how long you end up playing.

I consider myself lucky if Action or FPS game campaigns last more then 8 hours. Hybrid adventure games like this can last a bit longer then that, but 15 hours still sounds pretty nice, especially considering some RPG's these days don't hardly make it past the 20 hour mark.

And as others have said, that's just the base value. I imagine you can play the game for far longer then that.

Dishonored was actually really short without side-quests. Any thing above 5 hours sounds great to me. Halo 4 and Spec Ops The Line were both under 4. Plus I really trust the devs of the game becuase of DX:HR.

Well Halo and CoD are made for their Multiplayer thats a big reason they are so short, cause no one is expected to play Single player 24/7.

I doubt it will be quite that extreme; after all, the Elder Scrolls games are pretty well known for having a world that lets you play for hours on end without even getting through the first quest in the main storyline. But yeah, there should be more to do outside of the content covered in the 11-15 hours figure.

Dishonored was said to be around 10 hours long with main story and most of the sidequests, but I'm hoping the devs of Tomb Raider have a different way of measuring it..
Dishonored was roughly 10 hours for just the main story, without doing any sidequests. This site is fantastic for doing playtime breakthroughs and showing you how much time you can expect to spend on the various different types of playthroughs (main, main and sidequests, or completionist): http://howlongtobeat.com/gamebreakdown.php?gameid=8746 So we can probably expect a good bit more than 11-15 if we're planning on doing all the sidequests.

I finished Dishonored in under 10 hours playing in a stealthy way and completing all of the side quests. The reason I brought up Halo was because other games in the series had 10-15 hour campaigns. Spec Ops The Line was brought up because even though the campaign was short, it was unique and very well made. The point of me saying that is because I don't care if its short. All I want it a well made game with replay value!

I did love Spec Ops: The Line, I hope that if Tomb Raider is not going to be super long that it'll at least be good.
Thats all I'm trying to say.
read it would be 12-15 hours....
DeMo 21 lutego 2013 o 21:12
Hoping for major replay value, thats what games lack these days, no matter the length once it ends I want to, want to play it again.
warmed_over 22 lutego 2013 o 0:50
Press start to play.
do do do
game over.

I doubt that highly.
Sounds like it will be short. That's unfortunate.
