Support Japanese pack!!
I just wanted to know how many people would like to have JP voices pack here on steam.

I personaly, would really appreciate it. Lara is great British girl so I can not imagine playing TR in different language, but I would just like to hear Japanese voices, because I like it. And having it here among the other languages wouldn't hurt anyone.

Japanese Pack will be released probably on April 25 with additional charge of 30$ which is completely nonsense...!! Why should I pay almost full game price once again just for LANGUAGE? Why all other languages are available free with game bought normally in store??
I would really love to have Japanese in Tomb Raider but idea to beguile more cash just for language is completely hillarious.
Why....it's wrong way, don't go that way (to somebody responsible for this)

I really hope it won't be true....

that's because: 1- japanese voices are more expensive (the actors are)
2- it's market rules

I never heard of such a rule. But it would be shame if they actually make it so expensive.
And I hope it would be just some kind of, I don't know, misunderstanding... Shoot, why am I always the last one to know...? XD

Language Pack is now available on Steam for Japan. Check it out: http://store.steampowered.com/app/237450/ But why not worldwide... It seems like nightmare to do such foul-play. It's unforgivable. They should make all other languages with dubbing additionaly paid!

I can trade it for 15 tf2 keys. add me
Dataz Apr 24, 2013 @ 9:08am
I don't own it,LOL. No one should let be robbed like that too. I won't pay for this so much like for full game (I bought the game in shop for ~40$). I'm feeling robbered now. The game without japanese is useless for me...I want refunds or selling it away.
Why do you want to trade for...(tf2 keys?what is it? ) when you can buy it by yourself?

Pricing makes sense this time. Unlike most other markets, localisation for Japanese language cannot be shared by other regions. The Japanese market is also woefully small. So in order to attract bigger names to the localisation, the end price has to, unfortunately, be higher too.

Also in this case, we didn't pay "full" price for Tomb Raider in Japan on Steam. Full price here is nearer $80. Not the $50 that the US pays. Yes, it sucks we have to pay a higher base price, but that's the downside of being part of a tiny, dying, games market -- less potential customers == higher price in order to maintain profit potential. So, unlike Sleeping Dogs, or Hitman Absolution, instead of being forced to pay $80, we were given the chance to buy a US import for a cheaper price; the trade-off being, no localisation.

Now, we have the chance of paying the difference to get the localisation. Thus, ultimately paying $80 for the JPN version. Given the current state of the Japanese gaming market, that's a great move.

Square could just have easily not made the localisation available to purchases of the US import, effectively making them paying $130 with the need to purchase both versions -- for those who didn't heed the original notice stating that the initial Steam version was a US import.

Now, if you're truly unhappy with having to pay higher prices here, then complain to the government. Call for a review on the outrageous prices. But don't expect much to happen, if the government have their way, prices will *increase*.

Don't you think that even with taking into account what you said, 30$ just for LANGUAGE PACK is too much? it's just 60% of full game price. When I buy something, I demand full product, not half-product.I'm now outraged because of these "illegal" practices of SQENX and I'm starting to regret my wasted money.
It's not a market rule to increase prices if product dont' sale as producer expected to, because it causes even lesser number of sales! It's so obvious for me that I don't understand these void series of deduction as it ain't been confirmed by real market.
So if they want to earn more money because of market, Steam has instruments to make sales of Tomb Raider more expensive only for Japan.
Wouldn't it be more consistent with previous assumptions? Who wanted to play in Japan, have already done it! So it's furthermore stick-in-the-mud budging up and lacking of coherence.
You know what? if someone want to have full version without exclusive-Japanese, I can mediate with buying it in my local market withing 24$ just for steam key just to make all these robbers bankrupt.

That is all nice and actually true. But the game market and even the game developers seems to be too stupid, that rather than make full, quality product, available everywhere and thus satisfy all gamers, they would rather make semifinished products and lots of "extra" offers just to make quick money. And we can not do nothing about it.
(I don't missed the point, do I? XD)

Don't know, but we were here in Poland informed officialy that Square Enix got really poor sales rate so even they fired some of their staff because of loss of several milions on Tomb Raider. (contrary to their expectation of positive balance).
Seems they try to make as much money as possible to sew up huge hole in their wallet which makes us, Players, mostly aggrieved.
What's more interesting (it's beyond our topic), I bought Tomb Raider in box version in real shop (not on the Internet) and I got inside two dvd discs...with Polish dubbing on first, and English dubbing on second disc. I wonder how does this look like in other countries.

Well, I am Slovak and there is no chance to buy game even with Slovak subs XD But as far as I know, you can only buy raw, english dubbed version of game in real shop in ours. With no bonuses or such. If that's what you're asking.
I know about SE's fired some staff, but as I heard, they had fired it not because of money loss, but because presonal dissatisfaction or something like that. But let's be honest at least, there are much worst game developers than SQENX. It just isn't fair that they totally... totally ignore gamers and just follow theyr selfish goals.

No I don't. In this case Square made it very clear. They were selling a US import on Steam at a cheaper price. That in it self is a full product. It contains what it's supposed to, which is English. Square made it clear that it would not contain Japanese. Any one who purchased it expecting it to contain Japanese did so on misinformation.

They also made it clear that if you wanted/needed the Japanese version, that it would be sold (at the JPN price) via their E-store. They didn't have to make the language pack available for the import version at all. In fact, this generally unheard of. So now, instead of having to buy the game again at $80, you can simply pay the difference and "upgrade" to a JPN release.

Now, if Square were "ignoring" gamers, they would not have made this pack available. Think about that.

I can't understand what's goin on now... Steam tells me that this DLC is not available in my region. Are they goin' even to make it available someday? If not, it's even more not understandable..because this way they simply don't want my money for that ;o
Is this beyond their imagination that somebody outside Japan want to play in Japanese...?omg
