Tomb Raider Update Released
Product Update - Valve 21:11
We have just made public a new version of the PC version of Tomb Raider, build 1.0.730.0. This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.

New fixes in 730.0:

• Upgraded the save slots from three to 99
• Introduced “Last Campsite Save”, which automatically saves your progress up to the last campsite you have visited
• Added stereoscopic 3D reticle
• Fixed issues with the discovery of the Unworthy campsite.
• Fixed a problem that occurred when traveling back to the Sacred Hall Basecamp after that story has been completed
• Fixed a playthrough stopper in Chasm Bridge
• Fixed a playthrough stopper that could occur when loading a saved game created in the Coastal Forest after upgrading the axe but before opening the gate
• The active selection in the main menu no longer changes due to the rotation of the menu itself
• Fixed Mouse and Aim Sensitivity slider settings getting rounded to coarser values on save
• Fixed a crash in multiplayer that could occur while migrating hosts
• Added functionality to activate and deactivate DLC multiplayer maps during matchmaking. Maps can also be manually activated and deactivated in the new ‘Match Making’ menu in the ‘Options’ menu.
• (DX11) Fixed a few self-shadowing artifacts in the beach
• (DX11) Various performance optimizations
• (DX11) Improved sunlight shadow quality
• (DX11) Lens flares now render correctly in stereoscopic 3D
• (DX11) Improved exclusive fullscreen <-> windowed transitions
• (DX11) Fixed occasional crash on startup related to stereoscopic detection
While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version we made a Beta available on Steam, Build722.3, that can be used to switch back to the previous version. Please note however that you can only play multiplayer with people that share your version.

We are planning further patches beyond this one to address various issues that have come out of consumer feedback since the release of the game.

Edit: Nice to see 3D getting some attention even in the patches :) Unlike some other recent games with "pc-specific features" *cough*bioshock*cough*

"pc-specific features" *cough*bioshock*cough*....... Grrrrrrr I'am so ♥♥♥♥ed at THAT one right now....

A new Nvidia driver AND a game patch that finally fixes the cross hair? This I've got to see! Thanks for posting.

Oh this is nice. I need to do some more testing tho... So far on my GTX570, I'm getting Ultimate settings at 1080p running very nicely. I'll play an hour incase this is some weird glitch but so far, everything is nice, and the heair looks so real and less "I have a big hairdryer" looking.

Edit: Yes, consistently over 30fps on Ultimate on 1080p (averaging at maybe 35 fps - about as good as I'd expect from a GTX570). FINALLLY they optimised. It only took my playing through the game 1.5 times :)

Nice detail to include, and a good way to do it, too. Hopefully it won't be necessary though. :)

No fixing hacked MP leaderboards yet then? Sigh.

Glad they're still fixing...stuff...even though the game has been fine for me.

@Falaris - i agree, they seem to have done this with every patch. nice to provide the fallback, and the understanding that not every possible combination of the millions of PCs can be tested for.

Have to say I've been nothing but impressed with their whole approach - from the great PC version to the 3D support to the patches - even the really nice message in the end credits when you complete the SP. I know there've been some nvidia stability issues for those with the 600 series cards, but generally I've found it fantastically good all round.

I just wish all big developers were like this :)

Why thank god is there no New Game +?

Are you just a steam hipster? I think so.

I don't know what it is.

I just don't think New Game+ is a good thing for this game. It works fine for Batman or Borderlands because they are stylized games. Tomb Raider on the other hand is a story driven game. Story of maturation. At the beginning Lara is weak and scared, at the end she is strong and scares everyone herself. Some people already have hard time believing that after ordeal of taking one human life it becomes easier to do it again. Imagine how would it be if she starts will all her skills and weaponry. It's like using a cheat code in, say, DOOM. At first it might be fun but it gets old very quick.

Did anyone one else have to verify the game before it would update?

Look at it from this perspective. A perspective I'm in now.

Complete the game, hardly any enemies anywhere.

Upgrading rifle to a top quality gu....oh cannot use it, the island is deserted lol

I know that perspective. Well, I collected and upgraded everything before finishing the game, and I haven't wandered about post game island yet. But I can understand that.

I still think that adding New Game+ is not the way to go to resolve this situation. Correct way, in my opinion, would be an expansion, or an add-on, or even a DLC. Like for instance our Scooby Gang didn't leave right away and Lara decided to explore something. While doing so she has to fend off the remnants of the Salarii with your fully upgraded rifle.

Honestly, fully upgraded weapons don't differ all that much from "stock" versions.
