Need advice on how to cross the bridges to get to the chopper

I am stuck in Fortress Tower trying to cross the bridges as they crumble away underneath. I have looked at Stella's walkthrough but still cant jump across the gaps. One problem is the second jump should veer slightly left but I am veering to the right and over the edge. have been stuck here forever and losing interest as its too frustrating, can anyone help please?

You're not even close to the ending, that's a sad part to have this problem, but I know your feels. Are you playing with keyboard and mouse or with a gamepad? My old gamepad is a bit used up, so characters sometimes just veer to the right by themselves. I played the game using the keyboard and mouse and it works fine. Also, please keep in mind that you can indirectly control where Lara is going by changing the camera angle. If she's steering to the right at that part, it might help to simply move the camera further to the left, so that she automatically goes into the correct direction. If that still doesn't work, have you had steam check if your installation was done properly? I had a problem with the game glitching out on me in a few parts, which was due to the installation not done properly.

Lastly, I would like to say that I had problems just before that bit, when you had to climb up that exploding tower just before you get to the exploding bridge. The game wouldn't load the video and I couldn't climb up. At some random point it worked though, don't know why. Don't give up, the story gets more interesting after this part.

Thanks for reply, yes I'm using keyboard & mouse but the mouse doesn't seem to be "steering" and there's no time to steer with left arrow and that just throws her off the bridge to the left. What do you mean by move the camera? Is that with the mouse? I'm at the stage of trying to download the next checkpoint just so I can continue the game, thanks again

No need to thank me, really. It's not like I can give you any solid advice, because I don't know why the game does that. It really sucks that your copy of the game does that. You control Lara using the W,A,S,D keys but change the direction of the camera using the mouse. Several times during the game I either jumped against a wall or into a hole and certain doom simply because I accidentally moved the mouse.

And I just realized I was talking utter bollocks there, you can't control the camera on the bridge, if I remember correctly. Sorry for that. I just finished the game today, but I'd give you a save state if I were at the helicopter scene and if I knew where steam saved them. (Seriously, I just checked, I don't know where the save states are saved.)

It seems many people have problems around the helicopter part, must be a common glitch.

Oh, and I found that there is a thread here on the steam forum where they show where to find the save games. http://steamcommunity.com/app/203160/discussions/0/846947320682441410/ I hope I could help you a little, even though I couldn't solve your problem. Sorry for that.

One thing that fouls up a LOT of people at the beginning is the fact that Lara is running TOWARDS you so you need to use the "S" key at the start to run away from the killers instead of the "W" key, then after you make the first just across (when she and that one guy are blown across the gap) you need to use the "W" key to scurry around the falling bridge area (now you're looking at Lara's back...)

OK thanks, yes I am aware that I need to use the opposite key whilst she is running towards me (I am using up/down/left /right arrow keys) so got past that bit then there is a checkpoint, then the run and jump starts and that is where I am having trouble, thanks for suggestion

I have found a save but cant use it so I'm persevering to try and master the jump. I am not so clever with computer!

Tell me about it. I've gotten better with computers by now, but I already meet my match when encountering a simple problem like yours. ^_^ Hope the game will stop doing that. Do you know why you can't use the save state?

OK success, I finally got the save checkpoint sorted and was able to transfer it to the game (this was from the first link you sent me ) probably taking the easy way out but hey, I'm on the chopper and completed that session. Thanks again Gao Li and this time you did help me thru.
I'm playing the easy level so cant imagine what it's like on hard? I am not young and usually stick with games like Sniper Elite and Call of Duty but I thought I would try this for a change and it has been difficult in places as my reflexes are not as sharp as possibly yours and the other players who seem to be having no trouble. Just hope I can finish it! Cheers

Dude, that's okay. Glad I could help. I also played it on easy and died a zillion times in pretty much in every fighting sequence. I was so glad that the game lets you start where you die instead of forcing you to repeat huge portions of the level. I felt great whenever I beat a part, or after when I was able to kill a few guys, but then I tried the multiplayer. Those players there destroyed me.

I normally play jump'n'runs, fighting games like Street Fighter or Tekken, or those point'n'click adventures. So, my reaction time might be on the same level as yours. Tomb Raider only got my attention because I watched that incredibly funny Conan O'Brien video with my girlfriend back then on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCe8-1dbXZc

I remember showing it to my dad, who plays no games, and he laughed just as hard as I did.

The part that absolutely kills me is the river part. Sweet jesus, that part is way, way too funny.

Try googling Conan O'Brien Reviews "Tomb Raider" - Clueless Gamer - CONAN on TBS . That's the entire title of the video. He has an entire series doing these, he also does Hitman, Minecraft, etc.
