Game constantly crashing GTX460 SLI

Since the last nvidia driver update I can't play Tomb Raider for more than a couple of minutes without it freezing. I thought these nvidia crashes had been fixed ages ago but I'm suffering hard now.

Game is the latest version from Steam and on a 3570K rig, 8Gb DDR3 and GTX 460 Sonic Platinum SLI on latest drivers.

Can anybody help? I get 60fps constantly on ultra before it freezes and no high temps etc

well does that happen on other games...those that are demanding? If so your gpu might be overheating and crashes to prevent damage....did you try rolling back drivers?/ updating them ?...I finihsed the game with 0 crashes...

No crashes on any other games and the highest temp I've ever seen on the primary card is like 80C, max CPU core temp of around 55C @4.2GHz cus of liquid cooling. I've turned the graphics settings down and I get the same result, every time I go from one area to another or fall to my death etc I get a game freeze and need to ctrl+alt+del out to task manager.

I can play a torrented version for hours no problem but for some reason the official Steam version just crashes every time my character climbs etc

All drivers up to date and am now installing it on to a SSD to see if it still crashes or not.

At least I'm not the only one then, annoying isn't it! I've tried it on different hard drives, tried deleting all traces of the game folders and all sorts but nothing has fixed it. Might try it with SLI disabled but a single 460 1Gb isn't going to play it very well.

Hmm... Runs fine with my 780M SLI. No stutters, no crashes, no lag. I am playing with all settings maxed @ 1080p.

780M SLI
32GB 1600MHz RAM
2 x 1TB 840 EVO SSD
Windows 7 Pro

Right, I installed again and started a new save, it played fine for about 30 mins and started crashing again....

Turned off tesselation, vsync, motion blur, post processing, high precision and Steam Overlay and so far no more crashes just in case anybody is reading this, let me know how you get on if it works for you also
