Another dumb noob question
Trying to exit the game ain't easy with the rolling menus. Is there any way or them to be fixed and let the player scroll or select a choice?? Can't seem to catch it on the right linevery often during roll and sometimes it takes awhile to get back to a menu e.g. if checking FPS rate is hit by error.

You can connect a controller, maybe this will help. what computer do you have? RAM, CPU, GPU? Maybe you should lower your graphic settings. will this help ?

Maybe post a video of the problem you're having.

AMD 64Bb.Dual core 6000+ 3Ghx CPU
NVIDIA GeForce GT220 1Gb Graphics card
8Gb RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium

I'll try to grab a a video and post it but have never done so before - may take a bit of learning.

Easiest way of exiting I found is hitting the "windows" key, Right clicking 'TR" in the system taskbar and close it - sofar exits OK from the crazy rolling menu without losing save point. I don't have a controller - just a HOTAS combo I use for Air Combat games. Might try that for grins but some how still think nailing the right menu selection would still be iffy.

What exactly are you trying to catch in the menu and why can't you use directional keys on your keyboard?

In my original post I said I am trying to exit the game. In more detail:

On concluding play, I hit "esc" key to exit, confirm I want to exit in the popup dialog box. At this point menu items and dialog boxes are fixed and selection is simple.

The next screen is one which asks whether I want to reload, start a new save point, resume (and a few other lines of choices) or quit at the bottom. On this menu of options, the highlighted item is only briefly held for perhaps a tenth of a second, then it drops to the next line option holding again a tenth before continuing to the end where it cycles back to the top and starts all over again. I should point out, when the game starts, after the initial Tomb Raider startup menu which is stable (has "PLAY, OPTIONS, (and a few other optuions) and I select PLAY the game menu appears after teh splash screen. The Game menu is the same one I get to after "esc" and confirmation. Not only is the selected item cycling but the assoxiated graphic cycles off to the right with the Tomb Raider grey seascape as a dexktop.

As I've indicated earlier, I often get the wrong item selected because it has moved on by the time the mouse-click has taken effect.

Using direction keys does nothing while it cycles through the menu.

To save time, when I want to quit, I hit the "Window" key which bnrings up the desktop and I can exit from the system tray by right-clicking the "TR" icon and selecting exit program.

Still haven't found a way to capture a video and post it but think I'll see if a smart phone clip can be done - never done that either....

Hmm, i think your geforce gt 220 is too slow for Tomb Raider and produce some lags in the main menu.

Alt F4 and you will be asked immediately, if you really want to shut down the game.

Thanks. That's an easy quit.......

Guess that's possible but the 220 seems to have better specs than the minimum requirement of 8600 quoted in PC requreiments for the game.

Until I can find a solution for capture and posting a video of teh problem I'll continue to use Richman's suggestion - unless another problem arises.....

I guess it's this combo. Unplug it or at least make sure all(!) axis are centered.

I'll be damned!! I unplugged teh HOTAS and menus became stable.

For yuks I plugged them back in and it was still stable.

At least I think I know how to settle them don if it starts cycling again - just pull the HOTAS.

Thanks!!!!!
