I waited nearly a year for THIS!?
I know I'm going to get hammered for saying this but this game just SUCKS.

I have played all the tomb Raider games since they first were released. The thing I loved about them was the puzzles. You had to actually solve something to move forward. THIS mess simply requires you to shoot and kill anything that moves.

Since I"m fumblefingered on a gamepad (at best) and using the keyboard is impossible unless you have three hands I'm STUCK. In Area 7. when the assshat with the shield comes out to hammer Lara into the ground.

I am sick of this. I've lost track of the body count already. I do not like shooting things just because you can. It should never be the basis for a game let alone on in the Tomb Raider series.

I'm going back to play Underworld. I've had it.

thing is, in general, people hate puzzles. i happen to be one of them. i dont think this is a great game by any stretch but im glad its not a puzzle platformer. and a TPS w/ ♥♥♥♥ty combat? you dont say..

Between Underworld and Tomb Raider you might have missed a little golden precious title you might enjoy:

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

Go get it, it's cheap, it's fun and it's full of puzzles. Oh and it has co-op/multiplayer support.

I honestly think Tomb Raider (2013) is a great game and I'm loving the direction Tomb Raider franchise is headed. It was about time, we finally got a proper combat system.

I think this game is great.

You can't really expect it to be like the other Tomb Raider games though, since this one is from a different developer

That's just how AAA budgeted games seem to be nowadays. They feel like they have to play it safe and just look at whatever else seems to sell well, then rehash.

Actually Tomb Raider didn't play safe at all. They went back to the origin of Lara Croft and re-created her personality (with a nice add-on of emotions), her look and her story. They changed the gameplay and the content.
If they had released an Underworld 2, then they would have played safe and probably took another step to become an EA-like company (let's face it we all agree on that :) )

But your point is also true that they definitely looked at what other successful titles were doing, before they created Tomb Raider.

You only have 1 achievement, you've hardly played the game

I don't think it sucks, but I'm not enjoying it. I've just got through Shantytown, and am down in the catacombs, and it looks like it's about to throw even more combat at me, without any tomb-raidery climbing/exploring in between. It's not the game I was expecting.

Why do people feel the need to cry like a baby on forums?! It's a take it or leave it thing here. Hell I wish the absence of puzzles were the only problem. Tomb raider 1 and 2 in 96 and 97 on PS were amazing. Everything after that is more of the same rubbish to top it all with TB2013 typical TPS babysitter. ♥♥♥♥ now I'm crying hahahahah

I started it with the gamepad, but being "fumblefingered" as you are (and having no auto-targeting) I tried using keyboard and mouse and I found it to be MUCH easier. You should give it a try. Ok, the puzzles are not so great and not so many, but the plot is nice, and so is the (main) character development.

I wish opinion forum posts would be removed. You're opinion is not something that everyone needs to hear. Besides if you waited that long why didn't you ever watch gameplay videos?

The game is out for a year now. There are hundreds of reviews, videos and comments for this game. If you had only read/watched one of them, you would've known, that this game is not like the old Tomb Raider games. I dont really feel sorry for you.

Um, what? It was never hidden that this wasn't going to be like the old Tomb Raider gamers. This was going to be a reboot telling her origin story. Go back to WoW/LoL, clearly those dumbed down to all hell games are best for you.

lol what? dumbed down, really? I can't even begin to think about touching those games without wanting to kill someone over the 'million button UI' and hotkeys that you'll remember only if you play the games over 10 hours a day. This game is dumbed down, clearly. It's a good game, I'm not saying it isn't but anyone can play it... it's mechanics are simple enough for the whiney mainstream to enjoy without any consequence if they do something wrong in it. Very long story short, you are using 'dumbed down' in the wrong context, or maybe I am??? ♥♥♥♥ who cares.
