Not what I expected from the Hitman franchise. I read all the reviews, saying how this game was a critical masterpiece, under-appreciated, etc. I didn't find this to be the case at all.
The game is gorgeous, and the controls are good. But the actual gameplay is extremely frustrating. The game gives you a ton of ways to deal with your targets; however, the save system and score system get in the way of this every time. If you actually want to enjoy the game, then you have to ignore the score system. While previous Hitman games encouraged experimentation, this game actively discourages it by giving you - maybe - one checkpoint in each level, at the most. If you want to experiment with different routes or outcomes, be prepared to replay half the level every time you make a mistake (or suffer a humongous negative score).
While there were a couple great moments (the Chinatown level really stood out as good), I felt like the majority of the game was just time spent redoing the same sections in order to get the game's score of approval. Not fun, for the most part.
