Needs Java!?!?

This game needs Java? What the dilly yo? Are you for serious? This can't be. Does anyone know a workaround for this so I can play without Java?

Why would I install terrible bloatware that has multiple security issues? Just to play a game? I don't think so. There must be another way.

Other games are able to ship a bundled, minimal Java executable that's not installed system-wide. Why can't Sega?

I'm sure as hell not installing Java system-wide to play a game. Just the time spent keeping it up to date would surpass the time actually spent playing.

Edit: Also, sorry for resurrecting an old thread. Didn't realize how old it was until I hit save.

Dont even bother with this one. This wasnt even made by the 2D sonic team, infact it wasnt made by any of sonic team or SEGA for that matter. I love how sega even lies about who made it saying "SEGA" developed it when they hired DIMPS the boozos behind sonic rush on the DS to make this terrible game.

Nobody claimed that Sega developed anything.
DIMPS made good Sonic games before (Advanced and Rush series).

Check the store page genius. And the quality of their games is not in question (seriously what's to question, their games are garbage and show NO understanding of what made sonic games fun in the first place). What is in question is why SEGA felt they could lie about who made this game.
