After pressed START, the game says it's downloading stats and achievements from Steam, and continues downloading it forever... I cannot access the game... What can I do?

And however, why this operation (not critical) is not done in background??

I'm having the same issue, game worked fine last night. Today game loads intro plays, then it says downloading from steam and never passes this point.
