I love MOBAs and I've played most of them. this has a really interesting concept, and combining spells is just awesome. Plus, it has a MASSIVE skill ceiling, which is fantastic. Makes it a really strategic and hugely skill reliant game, one of the hardest to play and master games out there. Instead of pre-made classes/characters/heros/champions, everyone is a wizard and customization derives from spell rotations and mixtures. Creative twist on the genre.
Unfortunately, it looks and feels unpolished. The controls are absolutely horrible in my opinion, the balancing is highly questionable, and the biggest problem is that the game JUST ISN'T FUN. No customizability and often times the "Combining spells," aspect hardly matters because you'll constantly be in situations where the EXACT SAME spell combination is always the most effective.
What you have, then, is just a 3rd person shooter with poor controls and a wizard theme and no meaningful customizability. The tutorial is HORRIBLE and the gimmick wears off shortly after. As a new player, I felt thrown to the wolves. The aspect of a TUN of spell combinations that can then be cast on yourself and others is nice, but the reality is, you'll use the same 10 or 15 every time, and there is little deviation. It's boring, the skill curve is awful and it's not worth the time in learning. That's what I took from my experience. It's a time (And money) sink that doesn't have a payoff.
If you're looking for a fun and interesting new addition to the genre, unfortunately, this isn't it. The PREMISE is one of the concepts I've seen in a long time, but it was poorly executed and left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe my mind would've changed over time, but difficult games NEED a good tutorial. This game basically has no tutorial. It shows 5 spell combinatons then says "Now join a game, champ!"
When I first started I thought I'd like it, but that hope faded within five minutes. FIVE MINUTES! That's silly. This game needs some serious work, and it could become an extremely good and unique game offering an awesome twist on the genre, allowing it to fill a niche in the market. Right now, it's just a waste of said market space.
