game won't save progress
starting w/ a new character for teh 3rd time is neat, but not fun. I do have mods enabled, not sure if that matters. No errors no nothing, play a few maps, close, start up and there is no way to select my old game.

Any ideas ?

ok, game with mods does not save progress; game w/o mods does save progress. no clue as to why.

Many Mods make the levels far too easy, hence why they dont count toward the totals.

yeah, I can see the Leia skin doing that :)

might be nice if it checks if you have just skins or if you have new items / traps; would also be nice if they added some sort of notification.

Honestly can't speak to any of the other stuff you can get.
haha, my thoughts exactly. torchlight 2 doesn't have this problem at all, it just has a seperate save file for modded games.

Damn! That's whyI lost 3 hours worth of progress... Used the HD Sorceress skin...

That's not cool

yeah i guess the only reason to play with mods is if you have ones that give you everything unlocked or infinite skulls to upgrade everything otherwise theres no point in trying to level up stuff at the normal rate since the game isnt gonna save anyways

Mods give an unfair advantage, that's why they disable the progress.

Well they should at least warn us. Disabling leaderboards should be enough. Anyway, not such a big deal when you know it, but it diminishes the interest of mods somewhat...

Urgh... yeah I lost 1.5 hours because of that...
TequilaSaisYes Jul 26, 2013 @ 6:40pm
honestly if there were some red flashing letters on the console "your progress won't be saved if mods are enabled" and I think 95% of the problem goes away.

hell pinning a topic on the forums would help; but yeah I think a lot of people don't know this or learn it the hard way. And as mods become mroe impossible I can see people downloading skins before they start playing (I did)

You guys saved my day. I disovered Steam workshop recently and also decided to try new outfit while playing. Played for about two hours, came back after a week and my save is gone.
I thought that Steam Cloud is broken a was kind of pi***. But this topic cleared all out. Now, I dont mind this, I wil turn off the mod and continue without it, but some kind of warning would be cool...
Nevertheless, this is great game :) I play single and finished 100% the first part so not yet sure if second part is better for me (because the missions might be catered for multiplayer), but will try the mods once I finish the game.

I can understand disabling super mods, but I only use a single cosmetic mod; Warcraft-Like Orcs. My game has been reset twice now, and I was wondering why, I guess I'll just have to stick with blue orcs being the toughest and having it be sometimes difficult to tell the difference between a medium and light orc at long range.

Edit: Although said mod offers a download from mediafire, allowing me to override the main program's files, not all mods do.

SERIOUSLY!!!!! i lost so much progress just because i have hd skins?
Geothermal1159 Feb 25, 2015 @ 7:26pm
Well a skin mod is treated as a mod that gives you god mode since it can be hard to set up the game to detect which mod you have so just to be on the safe side it just treats all mods the same so yes you can seriously lose alot of progress due to a skin since it is a "modification" to the original game.

For the skins (Leia in my case) the workaround I found is to go to %LocalAppData%\Robot Entertainment\OMD2\SubscribedMods and find the Leia mod, find the content of the folder art\avatar\Sorceress and overwrite the same files under Steam\steamapps\common\Orcs Must Die 2\data.zip with it. Note the files to overwrite is inside the data.zip file. Same folder structure. Always make backups first.
Should be only a few dds files to overwrite.
The outfit's icon or description text won't be changed this way. But it will show correctly in game.
Since this game doesn't update very often I'd say this is good enough... At least you can use the skin AND save the game.
