Favourite trap or weapon?
Like the title says - what is your favourite toy in the game and why.

I love the spring trap - fully skulled up you can get loads because its cheap. I love to see huge waves of orcs flying through the air.

My favourite is the acid trap. Not too expensive, extremely effective and satisfying watching those orks melt away in the myriad of spays! muhah ha haaa!

Favorite how - most effective? most fun? best value?

Most fun are the physics traps - love Pushing, Springing and Scorchering stuff of a cliff and hearing their howls on the way down.

Haymakers sorta count as a physics trap - 3 in a triangle create a spin-cycle-of-death that's just SO hilarious to watch, and smart placement can fling them into acid/lava/cliff for bonus lulz.

Most effective? Tar and Wall Arrows / Ice Vents with ceiling upgrades.

Judicious use of Tar makes everything easier (don't spam it, checkerboard it) and ceiling-mounted Arrows are cheap, can upgrade to Fire or Frost and have longer range than any other ceiling trap, so you can use them in places no other trap (except Shock Zapper) will work. Ice Vents are underappreciated - they're cheap, they slow groups and frozen enemies take extra damage. Hit a half-dozen frozen orcs with Chain Lightning and see what happens.

Best value? Anything that's two-traps-in-one.

Scorchers placed on edges facing in will burn what's in front of them and flip what's on top of them over the edge. Wall Arrows and Ice Vents with ceiling upgrades are cheap, save you a slot on your toolbar and are great against (most) Flyers. Shock Zappers with wall upgrade take down Trolls really fast, are great against Crossbow Orcs and (most) flyers and save you a slot on your toolbar.

For weapons my max-upgraded Crossbow and Lighting Ring are always on my bar.

Crossbow headshots take down even the biggest enemies really fast, and headshots return mana. So I can pop a Lightning Storm, headshot a few orcs and pop another right away, or stun-lock entire groups of enemies with stun-headshot-headshot-stun-headshot-headshot-stun...keeps them in the killbox until they all just melt away. Storms are incredibly effective against Trolls, Kobold Runners and Sappers, and the Chain Lightning takes down whole groups of Crossbow Orcs in one hit.

this may seem odd but my favorite weapon is the alchemist sachel
setting up 3 on traps that pop em and watch orcs litteraly melt instantly if you upgrade it
(also perhaps ploymorph ring cus it gives me an excuse to talk like a ork from warhammer)

wind belt + void wall is very useful. and then shrooms for bigger enemies. Also windbelt and mana potion on first level nightmare is all you need to beat it :)

Edit: Stone Staff (Family ties dlc) + clicking alot

Why is the Stone Staff best? because it is like a railgun it pirces all foes in a straight line, it can petrify foes and with the right upgrade it is a boss killer too.

If you should get tired of brainless clicking I recommend that you get AutoIT, and use something like this code down bellow to help you click. Mouse button 5 Spams Left clicks so you dont need to get unessesary wear and tear that damages your mouse.

#include <Misc.au3>
Local $hDLL = DllOpen("user32.dll")
while 1
if _IsPressed("05", $hDLL) = 1 then
MouseDown("left")
Sleep (1)
MouseUP("left")
Sleep (1)
EndIf
WEnd

also inb4 omg u noob hceater.

my fave weapon has to be the dwarven hammer purely as im obsessed with crushers in rpg games, fave trap has to be mushrooms, catch urself a runner and watch it tear ur enemies apart, perhaps not most practical choices but i enjoy them

haymaker ftw

I don't think that many people use it but I LOVE the Bone Amulet. The more orcs you've killed in that area, the more damage it does. And then if you have the mana you can pretty much cast a slightly less powerful Paladin.
Cougarific Apr 18, 2013 @ 7:09pm
Bone Amulet plus Mana Trinket is ridiculous. You can have 5-6 golums fighting for you all at the same time with Mana Rage, or two out all the time without Rage.

IMHO it's a must for farming Story level 1 as the Mouse1 damage skyrockets if you're killing them all right at the entrance.
