long loading time / slow menu
I had issues for a while with long loading times and slow menus.A temporary fix was:
1. Delete Local Game Content: Right click game-> Properties-> Local files tab.
2. Copy/Backup/Delete the Preferences/SaveGames: This is separate from local game content. Orcs Must Die 2 has the app ID 201790. Follow the instructions http://savelocations.wikia.com/wiki/Orcs_Must_Die! to find the exact location. My save data seemed to auto download from the cloud so nothing was lost.
3. Reinstall the game, don't interfere with the install process or initial loading of the game. I believe what created my initial problems was that I was multitasking/tabbing while the game loaded for the first time and some setting was corrupted.

However when I went back a day later, ( after restarting and playing other games), the issue resurfaced...

I have experienced this with both Orcs Must Die and Orcs Must Die 2. It's extremely frustrating. Once the game loads - after a few minutes - it runs great. Until you have to get to the main menu. Then you have to wait for minutes again.

I managed to fix my issue by following to suggestions in other threads I found. Apparently the game doesn't play nice with unusual USB configurations. I use a mac second screen which also has USB ports on it, and I have devices pluged into that. If I disconnected my second screen's USB and hook everything directly into my desktop box, everything runs just fine.

Other people reported that sometimes a random USB device in their setup was the culprit. I've never seen this problem with any other game, its quite odd. Anyway, you can try disconnecting one device at a time and see what happens.

I realize this is an old thread but in case it helps: I was using an apple cinema display which has a USB component that plugs into the computer (so you can plug USB stuff into your monitor).

Once I unplugged this USB adapter, the game ran just fine. No more long delays. Check your usb devices and drivers for a fix.
