Goblin Sappers. The worst enemy in OMD2
I truly hate those things. And I'm sure everyone else does too. I mean the fact they disable traps is fine and all, but the fact their ability lasts so freaking long and they have way more health than the Kolbald Sappers is ridiculous. And I've seen that if traps get hit with them too many times they just stop working all together. You can have a great setup and one or two of those little buggers can just come and ruin your day.

I mean, I understand their threat comes from their being able to disable traps and all, but there should be an offical option in the game to disable them, at least in endless. Thinking of Unchained. If a player could do that with a weapon or something then it'd be ok. Maybe the weapon has somewhat limited ammo before a long cooldown. But it'd be fair, because it was one player doing it.

Though I don't think it'll happen now, if they make a Orcs Must Die 3, they need to competely remove goblin sappers from the game, or at least have the option to. Those little buggers are really freaking annoying.

Agreed.

The only redeeming value is when you have a fully-set-up killbox, and all the traps get zapped, and the orcs start making their way through....and the zap wears off and all the traps go off at once! CARNAGE! >:-D

My strategy for dealing with these guys is to stun them with my crossbow - because it has an area-of-effect you don't have to hit the speedy little guys right on the nose, just nearby.

Then if there are any Archers on the map, archers with fire arrows tend to take them out pretty quickly. But Archers can't hit them when they're moving - they're too fast - so I just stun them then let the Archers finish them off.

(Wyatan that link's timing out for me with a 504 gateway error - you copy/paste it right?)

My strategy is to use the Wand of Domination to charm one and let the enemy kill them. The only problem is when they come in mid wave when there's a bunch of orcs and trolls in the way. But they shouldn't be so tough to kill, that's the main problem.

They shrug off lightning bolts like nuttin and are apparently immune to Chill, which led me to switch my standard Lightning Ring to Fire Gauntlets for any map they're on.

(chubbyninja does Wyatan's link work for you?)

Yah I can't get there for some reason.
Maybe it's a connections thing or something. It worked for me.

Link works for me.
You could try http://forums.robotentertainment.com/showthread.php?381-Where-OMD2-went-wrong .

I linked to page 4, where I pretty much agreed whith chubbyninja's opinion on GSappers (in less words ;) ), and down on the page you can read mrwho995's piece as well.

But I figure that forum topic is old news for you, Cougarific. :)

I can't think of a single enemy in any game that is remotely as annoying as goblin sappers are in OMD2. Seriously, if I turned on the game one day and they had completely disappeared from the enemy roster, nothing of value would have been lost. Sure they add 'difficulty', but only in the worst possible sense in the context of the game... your traps being messed with is nearly as bad as complete loss of agency, made worse by the fact that there is no reliable preventative measure to stop it, nor a countermeasure once the damage is done (I was agast when the trap trinket failed to do anything). Totally anti-fun.

If they return for the next game, they had better be tremendously nerfed.

the only counter measure to so speak of is to use a spam of low cost traps like spike floor trap/steam, tar/ ice vent, spring, or acid sprayer/arrow wall trap for walls. It's best to spam as soon as they come out so they hit those traps like a decoy and kind leave your real kill trap alone ( only tested on yeti dlc) . There also fear triceht which it's fear effect lasts about as long as the emp effect, just not sure for pre-denonated (kill before it blows it self and short timer and smaller aoe effect) or post-denonated one ( blows it self up and last longer and bigger blast raduis= big aoe= more traps disable). The fact that they even if u kill them before they blow-up and they near some defense, is imo the most annoying factor of theirs, that even in death they can still try to screw u over.
