Want to buy this game, a few questions inside.
Well I bought the new Simcity and I hate it. What a mess that game is. All it did for me was leave me with the urge to play a good city builder. This game looks promising but some of the reports are scaring me away. I don't want to buy into another buggy mess.

I see conflicting reports about the cpu requirement for this game. I have an I5 2500k Overclocked to 4.6 ghz per core. Will this clock speed help with a big city? I see some people post that over 3 ghz and you don't have to worry about the buggy coding. I also see people claim that it does not matter how fast your cpu is, the game slows to a crawl once you hit 500k pop.

I am aware that this game is single threaded, but would a clock speed as high as 4.6 ghz allow me to create a huge city with little lag?

the game runs great

it depends by what yo mean by huge cities

your use of intel cpu and overclocking will make a difference.

if you google u will see people have been able to create very large cities with this game, 90+M

the thing is as the city gets larger and more complex it will get slower because that one thread will have to crunch more per iteration and at some point the frame rate will get too low for your patience

still if u want to build large cities that look great this is like the only game in town.

I ended up buying it. Got a great deal I just could not turn down. I am having fun with the game. The way you zone does take a little getting used to though. I think I like Anno 2070 more.

do you believe Anno2070 is as complex as Cities XL?

Cities XL 2012 is more in detail about building an empire than Anno is. I havent played Anno 2070 yet but this game is more accurate a little how things work which is why I like Cities XL 2012. Anno is fun too, I only own Dawn of Discovery and DLC Venice but this beats the Anno detail game management.

Im going to miss these games if they change everything. You wont know what Im talking about. It happens all the time. I guess you can say as I get older these games change. You might of noticed it with some game series already. Example: Command and Conquer, Total War (Rome 2 sucks), Company of Heroes 2, and so on. You can add X-Com in there too but thats a different company now, not same crew that worked on it under Microprose.

CXL2012 is very nice to start beeing friendly with a city builder.
and mods are quite buggy for some of them but adds a lot of fun to the game ;)
(ski slopes, new buildings etc...)
