Just to inform all of you. ALL games for windows live games gets the savegame corrupt if the game is either been reinstalled or windows formatted. I too have a savegame with the best cars at max upgrade, and can't continue..

Hi.

Search for a savegame file on the web. It's frustrating having to start all over, and I agree it's not fun getting everything for free, but it's better than doing everything over and over.

That wont do, cause savegames are binded to the account it was creaded on.

Dirt Showdown/Steam

After 5months i got my profile back^^ I had made a backup of my steam/userdata folder... my luck^^

I re-installed showdown,
disabled cloud-saving for this game in steam,
and copied the files from my backup of the "remote"-savegame folder (backup/steam/userdata/NUMBER/201700/remote)
to
my "local"-savegame folder from the reinstalled showdown (steam/userdata/NUMBER/201700/local).

Then i started showdown and... my profile works.
I didn´t re-activate cloud saving and got no corruptions till today^^

For those who have no backup... maybe it helps if you deactivate cloud-saving and just copy all files from the remote to the local folder.

I recognized that after i played Showdown, the files are automatical moved back to the remote folder... but the profile is still working

Hope this helps somebody

I can see a few years back and the topic is still up-to-date. Just got mine profile corrupted, but luckly restored it back using Windows's Shadow Copy service.

Just browse the folder:
\Steam\userdata\"profile-number"\201700

Right click on 201700, which is our game save folder. Select Properties and Previous Versions. Here you should have a few dates with system copies of this folder. You can either Open, Copy or Restore the whole folder.

I recommend to make a copy of each date you have to make sure you don't loose any. Then try to replace the files from the backups made, starting from the newest ones. Files will look the same, but they have different date and content!

If Steam asks you about the game save data when running a game select "upload local files to cloud" or something like that.

I hope that it can still be helpfull to someone.
