Wanting to buy for my kids....

I am wanting to pick up x3 copies of one of the Dirt titles to play with a couple of my kids - my biggest concern is actualy being able to hook up with them in-game and race - how is the multiplayer and which Dirt is the best in your opinion (?)

How old are your kids? Dirt showdown is most arcady and easiest for youngsters.

They range from 12-18, I was considering showdown myself for the crash-em-up :-)

I'm not quite sure how it works, but if it is the same as DiRT 3, they have to be your Games For Windows Live friends to be able to invite them directly. I don't think Showdown uses GFWL though, I think they use Racenet. I'm not sure how that works, but I would guess it would be the same.

I haven't been able to start DiRT Showdown though. I honestly think it looks like the best, because of the demolition derbies, but if you want actual rally racing, go for DiRT 3.

EDIT: I just looked it up, it looks like they are using steam for multiplayer, as far as I can tell. So if you want to invite them, your kids have to be your friends on steam.

This game only requires you to be steam friends with them, also if you have a mic that is activated on your pc the game will automatically transmit your voice when ever you speak unless you unplug/disconnect it. Just thought I'd give you a heads up ;)
