Well, you need to get used to cockpit view not being available. Codemasters has even removed it from the upcoming GRID 2. Less than %5 of gamers actually used it according to their data (which doesn't surprise me at all given the disadvantage it places on the player.)
Manual transmission really has no place in Showdown. It may have been nice but certainly not critical to this style of gameplay.
DiRT 3 was an absolute disaster for me. I hated the physics, the boring tracks and the bizarre controls. Worst of all, that stinker froze and crashed on me in EVERY SESSION. Not kidding. A %100 failure rate for DiRT 3. Good riddance to it. It's off my hard drive.
Most popular? It's old as hell and not supported by many games. It's not popular cuz you own it. all the steering wheels i have are supported.
This...
You can't pretend to be a racing game fan and have such an obselete wheel and expecting it to give you a good experience...
I agree it sucks that the game doesn't support your wheel. However, for the sake of the majority of people on Steam who do not have this particular wheel, I recommend in the future that you should think a little longer about the title of a thread you start. In this case a thread title like
Do not buy if you use MOMO
would be a much better title and actually would draw in the intended target audience to read the thread instead of every single potential purchaser of the game.
A thread title like
DON'T BUY IT!!!
gives the impression that the game is seriously broken and unworkable, so would not be enjoyed by anyone. Since I don't own this game I do not know if it is broken and unworkable, but there is absolutely nothing in this thread to indicate anything more than a problem that would impact only a fraction of the potential buying public.
In various games I've seen threads with titles like this thread has, and then read the thread to see what was the problem with the game. Sometimes the problem is the game is an adventure and has spiders in it, and the poster is scared of spiders, so he warns everybody on Steam not to buy it because he is scared of spiders. Sometimes the problem is the game relies on colors, and the poster is colorblind, so he warns everybody on Steam not to buy it because he is colorblind and can't tell the colors apart.
As the old logo for IBM cautions people to do, "THINK".
No manual transmission. No cockpit view. No TrackIR head tracking support. No support for anything but a short list of Logi Wheels (new ones only), Logi game pads, and Xbox controller.
Codemasters was known for providing these things in their racing simulators, which I own and play: Toca Race Driver 2, Dirt, Dirt 2, Dirt 3. Dirt Showdown is a dumbed down racer made to appeal to the Xbox crowd and should not be considered for purchase by serious racers.
So take your spiders and shove 'em up your @∫∫.
And mind your own posts, Eram.
well toca race driver 2 dirt 2 and dirt 3 were pants. So if you consider yourself a serious racer.... That must mean that all " serious racers like crap arcade style racers.
Btw if you have a wheel that still uses the big serial conection it might be time to upgrade. Oh and dirt 3 just sucked. A blatant attempt at in your face marketing, trying to get you to pay more for dlc that should have been in the game. just how annoying was that game.
I played toca until grid. I enjoyed toca 1 and 2. played with an old guillemot wheel. I played rallies from the first cm on the playstain i believe. This last generaton of games have all been dumbed down. Get used to it, buy a wheel or xbox controller and enjoy it for what it is. for 5 euro im sure you can get your moneys worth.
wonder why they support the GT DF but not the driving force pro (earlier edition of GT)
I always liked my games solo so i don't really care.
Because if *that* is your only concern, then there can't much wrong with the game.
